It seems the most common fault on a TV is a broken or failed screen,

when this happens to a mobile phone or Laptop, it's so easy to get a replacement, but if your TV screen goes it's almost impossible, and the ones which are possible ,are so expensive it's not cost effective

Are there any manufacturers who offer this service

Sony
panasonic
Samsung
Lg

Or a screen company ?

The "cheap mobile phone screen" thing isn't always true though. If you break the glass that protects the screen then that's cheap enough. But I broke the image generating part on a Samsung Galaxy SII. Replacement for that cost as much as buying a second-hand phone.

Putting a new screen into most TV.s is a waste of time and money -- far better to put the cost of a new screen into a new TV . TV's cost buttons now unless you go go for real high end stuff . But if you want to check out the price and availability of screens go to http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/ and input your model .

Sony are (by far) the most reasonably priced on LCD screens - however, that still means it's approaching the cost of a new TV to replace the screen, and could easily exceed it.

But even with Sony, some screens are crazy prices, and many screens are no longer available. Almost all screens I replace are under warranty - although I have done a few of the more reasonably priced ones out of warranty.

You also need to consider that spares prices are based on the price of the original set, and as new sets drop in price it makes the old spares prices look even worse.

There's no price listed for the S-LCD panel (which 'might' mean it's not available - but could still be available, the CMI one is listed, and the retail price of the panel would be £459 inc. VAT.

So a pretty pricey one
