I agree dropping in characters for a couple of episodes and having them disappear is awful and I don't give a hoot about the character when they then appear.

First there were the Truemans then there were the Foxes, then the were the Trueman/Foxes and now they are the Fox-Hubbards as listed on the EE website. Is it lazy to just lump all of them together like that?

Does Claudette know the Mitchells?

I know we've come a long way in racial equality, but two separate families of the same ethnic origin still sadly is a stretch for eastenders. Despite Julia Smith, original executive producer, stating that in eastenders "we don't make life, we reflect it"...not sure if the current cast reflect the East End now, or at least this century. But anyway, that's probably another point for another thread in a much larger discussion. It's great character of an ethnic origin are being create with depth, wealth of backstory and potential storylines.

Don't think she does, she didn't even seem like she knew Phil yesterday - only Vincent used to grow up with the Mitchell's / knew them when he was younger. From what we've seen on screen so far.

Its all very confusing and once again it feels like they're making it up as they go along.

Ronnie said she first met Vincent when she and Roxy visited his bar. Phil seems to know Vincent from when he was a " snot-nosed kid", but then surely Claudette would know the Mitchells if her son used to run to their house.

Sort out the backstory Easties!

Well R&R were quite estranged from Phil, they only were mentioned or seen 17 years after Phil and Grant arrived on the square lol so don't think Ronnie wouldn't have known Vincent. And I imagine a young Vincent trying to get in with the top dogs, sniffing around the Mitchell's, without his mother knowing. Easties does like to create new backstories though! In due time, i.e. relatively soon, I hope it will all make sense and come together!

Thinking this comment might be a joke but a brothers combination of Blackwood and Clarke would be great, be better than the Mitchell's in their prime.

I think he's a bit too busy to do EastEnders.

The Hubbards appear tonight under Daran Little's writing. I'll be intrigued to see his take on them.

Obviously but I wouldn't be surprised to see him there in years to come when his movie work has dried up.

He mostly writes and produces anyway so hard to think he'd be totally lost for cash.

Paul Coker walked in on his Granddad and Claudette and having an affair when he was younger and then decided to leave the country.

Could that be what happened ?
