If they message you and ask you to stop, you could stop.

If they want to ban you, they lose the money and you go to another streaming service.

So just do it any way you want, you are paying the full amount for the service, and you are not cheating or gaining anything, apart from a slightly different selection of videos.

I'm doing the same thing. If I was getting it free then I would understand but I pay they're monthly fee so I don't feel like its cheating.

It all depends on how you look at it really.
Yes your paying your monthly fee, but that money goes towards licensing agreements for the region your accounts setup with.
Then on the other hand your monthly fee allows you to keep on accessing your Netflix account while travelling but you may see different regional content. (Using a smartphone/tablet there's an on screen message telling you this when you open the app in a different region)
My Netflix account allows 4 screens at a time so in theory they can be used in 4 different regions at the same time.
At the end of the day Netflix know is goes on and they kind of allow it with their 'traveling' policy and I suppose it's down to someone to prove you or another family member who shares your account is not traveling.

I'm don't have Netflix but I'd be tempted if I could access the US library. They should just let me sign up using a US address, pay in dollars, and view the US region without having to pay extra for a VPN.

You can already do this, but you still need a VPN/Smart DNS to bypass the geo-lock that tells Netflix which country your located in which is set by your ISP.

They know exactly what you are doing. They obviously turn a blind eye. I looked at my account the other day and under viewing activity it listed everything I had watched, the device I had watched it on and the region I had viewed. So for instance it said Homeland viewed on Apple tv on Uk at 8.30pm.
Then Friends viewed on USA at 10pm. Obviously there is no way I could fly from the Uk to the USA in 30 minutes so its fairly obvious what I am doing. So they do know.

They've recently made 'My List' available across all regions so whatever is in your list shows up if it's available on another region. Also you can now carry on watching an episode of a series from where you left off from one region to another.
It certainly seems to me that they're making things very user friendly for those that are using the 'Travelling' loophole.

The problem with content on Netflix UK is between the studios and local distribution companies. The studios will have an exclusivity agreement with one or more UK based distributors that prevents Netflix from being able to add them to their catalog. This is very prevalent in Australia where due to local distributor agreements Netflix could not launch there because of lack of content. I'm sure Netflix would love to be able to negotiate licensing with all the studios to be able to offer all movies, but that isn't how the current system is set up.
The good news is that the old studio+distributor system is very antiquated and with the rise of technology offering quality streaming they will have to change how they offer their products or they will go bankrupt.

You do realize that the Americans say the same thing about their service, compared to ours and the Canadians moan about theirs compared to the US etc etc.

I know it is simpler than that on smart TV so I just tried it to see what the fuss is about.

Pressed menu button on my TV, went to network settings, then IP settings, changed DNS settings from automatic to "enter manually", typed the DNS IP for American netflix that I googled, exited menu and started Netflix app on my TV and it worked first time and loaded US Netflix.

The different content does no excite me at all, I will watch some family guy, we don't get that on UK.

There is 3D selection on the US one, so I will get my glasses on and watch a couple'

And where do you think those DNS numbers come from? Pretty much most belong to some sort of SmartDNS service that after a certain amount of time become inactive as the trial period for that service comes to an end.
Also the difference between a paid service and just some random numbers you may find is with the randoms you'll only get access to the U.S. region and have to mess around changing settings to change back to the UK, whereas with the paid service you get access to all available Netflix regions (20 when Australia starts soon) and no need for having to change settings everytime you want to change region.

Its just a couple of button presses on my TV remote to change it back to automatic DNS, I am happy with the UK version, can't really see anything worth changing for so I will just put it back and leave it.

I think it is a case of people seeing the grass is greener on the other side with Netflix regions, no significant differences worth shouting about.

^^ True, but I may change my region up to 5 times or so, looking for something I fancy watching, so it's not a case of changing once and leaving it. For instance last night I started watching the killing season 3 on one region, had a mooch about on a couple of other regions, then watched Sirens on US.

And their are quite significant differences in the regions. By having access to them all you get to see most I'd say around 90% or so of films that aren't even on sky (by up to 4 months or so) yet and some that aren't even in the cinema's in this country yet.

You won't enjoy your viewing with all that chopping and changing and searching, it might be the case that you are giving yourself too much choice.

Maybe best do do internet search on possible things to watch, then just watch and let go of the buttons for a while and sit back and relax.

I use the hola chrome plug in to pick the country I want. very easy and 2 seconds to change to a new country.

Its not netflix losing out, technicially if anyone is losing out - its the rights holders of the shows/movies.

You've hit the nail on the head there, I used to keep chopping and changing and just couldn't settle for anything to watch, now i look at imdb for information on shows and check to see if the show is on any neflix regions via a internet search.
I'm finding this much more enjoyable.

I generally don't chop and change that much, was just looking for something to fill a couple of hours. But sometimes it's good to have a mooch, to see what's around.

Yes indeed, there are various options of services available.
I use www.unblock-us.com myself, just go to the site and follow setup instructions.
