That's like arguing that buying a packet of crisps from Tesco and taking it into the Odean is "cheating" the Odeon and Walkers out of money as:

1) nobody is buying crisps from the Odeon
2) if nobody buys crisps from there then they'll stop ordering them

You'd have to be quite morally rigid to feel guilty about things like this or to think you're "cheating" anyone.
It's not quite the same as that. In your example, Walkers don't lose out because while Odeon order less stock, Tesco order more from them. Odeon don't really lose out either, because they'll eventually sell those crisps (assuming that the sell-by date isn't imminent). As you pointed out earlier, when the rights for TV shows are purchased, there is a single lump sum payment. In my example, Amazon pay the money, but then don't get the value from the product because people choose to get Netflix US. Netflix get extra value, but don't pay extra for it. So overall, less money flows back to the programme maker, and more money ends up in Netflix's pocket. Basically, if Netflix are going to get subscribers from the UK paying for their US service, they should be paying for the UK rights.

And you have no issues with trusting some random DNS settings you found via a search or forum or whatever?

I see the full stop and capital letter keys are still broken? Do you not understand that while you're using them for Netflix, your computer is at risk?

You never said before that you kept them on temporarily, and never mentioned the PS3 before.

Given that and given that other people do leave them on, and even have them set on their router rather than a device that has more restricted internet use, it wasn't OTT to have concern that you used them that way too.

Oh, and the risk from using any old random anon DNS settings isn't really that your device could be infected with something, it's that sensitive information you submit to a site or service (e.g. card or banking details) could be sent somewhere it shouldn't.

DNS tells your device what the IP address is for each domain name, so when you tell your device you want to go to paypal.com or amazon.co.uk or store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com, the DNS server translates those names into IP addresses.

A rogue DNS could tell your device a false IP address.
