That's like arguing that buying a packet of crisps from Tesco and taking it into the Odean is "cheating" the Odeon and Walkers out of money as:
1) nobody is buying crisps from the Odeon 2) if nobody buys crisps from there then they'll stop ordering them You'd have to be quite morally rigid to feel guilty about things like this or to think you're "cheating" anyone. |

And you have no issues with trusting some random DNS settings you found via a search or forum or whatever?

I see the full stop and capital letter keys are still broken? Do you not understand that while you're using them for Netflix, your computer is at risk?

ps3 pretty much immune to malware trojans ect
Given that and given that other people do leave them on, and even have them set on their router rather than a device that has more restricted internet use, it wasn't OTT to have concern that you used them that way too. |

Oh, and the risk from using any old random anon DNS settings isn't really that your device could be infected with something, it's that sensitive information you submit to a site or service (e.g. card or banking details) could be sent somewhere it shouldn't.
DNS tells your device what the IP address is for each domain name, so when you tell your device you want to go to paypal.com or amazon.co.uk or store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com, the DNS server translates those names into IP addresses. A rogue DNS could tell your device a false IP address. |
