Can we have a smartwatch/wearables forum?
With the imminent launch of the Apple Watch, I'm sure there will be a lot more interest in smartwatches and wearables in general.
Can we have a new sub-forum under gadgets? Who do we ask? |

Stick it in as a sub-forum of mobile phones renamed as mobile devices?

May not be enough people taking up smartwatches to make it worthwhile.......Good luck with your request though.

One thing to be careful of is too many quiet sub-forums like a certain main competitor to DS which will remain unnamed (by me), they have so many sub forums that I can't be bothered clicking in and out of them. Some go for days or weeks without a post.
I actually prefer to come to the mobile forums and see thread titles about smartwatches, phones, apple, android, masts and all sorts of things which you could have separate forums for. I think you only really need a different forum if the interest group is significantly different like it is with broadcasting, general discussion, mobile or movies, but that's my 10p worth, I know other people may feel differently. |

There is no where near enough demand for the Smart Watch to have it's own forum. It's like asking for the TV forum to have sub forums for 3D TV's and CRT's. |

I was thinking a wearable tech forum, rather than just smart watches - but having seen the comments above, yes, perhaps it would be too quiet at present.

The Apple Watch launch is today from 5pm GMT. I predict will have quite a few threads about it. http://www.apple.com/live/ |

I'd be happy with a wearables forum.

Right now, I think the only change needed is to explicitly state in the description whether wearables falls under "mobile phones" or "tablets and readers"

A fitbit, for example, is neither a phone nor a tablet! |

As this is the 'Mobile Phone' forum and is mainly taken up with Networks, it may make more sense to have a separate 'Network' forum and leave the Mobile phone forum to incorporate smart watches..

There aren't any threads allowed directly under gadgets.
