Itentifying the use of different MNCs
I was looking through the UK mobile network country / operator codes, the UK is 234.
What would be useful is if members share any information about the usage of some of the codes below eg: defunct, no longer used, what the different ones are used for if a company has several. O2 234 10 O2 Ltd. 234 11 O2 Ltd. 234 02 O2 Ltd. Three 234 94 Hutchinson 3G 234 20 Hutchinson 3G EE 234 30 Everyth. Ev.wh./T-Mobile 234 31 Everyth. Ev.wh./T-Mobile 234 32 Everyth. Ev.wh./T-Mobile 234 33 Everyth. Ev.wh./Orange 234 34 Everyth. Ev.wh./Orange Vodafone 234 03 Airtel/Vodafone 234 27 Vodafone 234 91 Vodafone 234 15 Vodafone Others 234 76 BT Group 234 77 BT Group 234 07 Cable and Wireless 234 92 Cable and Wireless 234 36 Cable and Wireless Isle of Man 234 18 Cloud9/wire9 Tel. 234 17 FlexTel 234 55 Guernsey Telecoms 234 14 HaySystems 234 75 Inquam Telecom Ltd 234 50 Jersey Telecom 234 35 JSC Ingenicum 234 26 Lycamobile 234 58 Manx Telecom 234 01 Mapesbury C. Network Rail will have its own MNC for its GSM-R network. I don't know if this is the one attributed to Railtrack or if they're using another

I assume that the reason for multiples for the 'main networks' is for each generation, eg: one of them will be used for 2G, one for 3G, one for 4G etc? That would work out just right looking down the list.
Then a lot of the ones listed at the bottom are B2B services, some of which are defunct. It would be good to know what other people have to share. Moox, I assume the Railtrack one is Network Rail. |

I think some of these (e.g. Airtel / Vodafone) are used on the islands which have different legalities. e.g. Channel Islands, and Isle of Man - where they don't come under UK parliament but work with the UK regulators (e.g. Ofcom).

Mainly in use:
O2 - 234-10 Voda - 234-15 Ex-Orange 234-33 EE / Ex-T-Mob 234-30 Three 234-20 It's not separated into 2G/3G/4G using separate MNCs. All three use the same MNC for each operator. The IOM and Channel Island networks also have UK 234 MNCs. |

Don't forget the smaller LTE networks like PCCW who run the Relish network in bits of London, they'll have their own network code too.
From what I remember, Inquam Telecom is the company that bought the remnants of Dolphin (the other TETRA network that was to be for public use, as opposed to Airwave that is closed) |

Which used to break the iPhone roaming detection as the phone thought it was still in the home country as SIM and network codes were the same. Thankfully iOS introduced better controls and the networks introduced better prices.

234 08 is used for BT OnePhone which is low power 2G at 1800MHz.
234 13 is also in use by Network Rail. BT have 234 00 assigned to them and there's quite a few others assigned but not on the list above like Virgin Mobile and TalkTalk. A current full list is here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/numbering/MNC.xls |

Are the duplicate ones used for testing, perhaps?

Ah interesting, I wonder what 234-94 (other Three) is used for or why it was ever required then. It is good to know the main MNCs, thanks for that.
