Rihanna - Dark Angels (The Lost Album)
Much in the way Britney had Original Doll, an album that was never released, it seems Rihanna did also.
Dark Angels was a rumored album to be released around 2009 in between Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R. There are plenty of discussions about it around the internet like here http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=151457 There was plenty of fanmade artwork coming up to the release; https://www.google.ie/search?q=rihan...YQ_AUoAQ&dpr=1 There were plenty of Demos floating around the internet at the time, some of them recorded by other singers and some by Rihanna herself. Some of the tracks rumoured to be part of the album included; Emergency Room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZXpq1Xhknk How I Like It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XE9i-7QK7uw Headlines (Rumoured to be about Chris Brown) Don't Give a Damn About You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFH3tSFdnwQ Remote Control Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYq7lt2XxWs It seems that the album campaign was well and truely underway but for some reason just disappeared of the face of the earth. A quick Google gives so much information on an album we never heard. What happened to Dark Angels? |

It isn't really a lost album because they are just basic demo's. Where as Original Doll was actually a nearly complete album.
I have never heard of a lost album. I know these songs are left overs from Rated R though, not another intended album. |

It seems more likely that this album became rated r and that waa the earkiest stages of development. It happens often like britney again femme fatale was yrban but becan what we got as FF.
Madonna's confessions was originally a rock album but as we know, she went down to disco town. |

I suppose it makes sense, these demo's were originally intended for Rated R. I just wonder where the title "Dark Angels" came from. Also listening to those demos, they sound nothing like Rated R which was much more rock inspired. Emergency Room for example would have smashed had Rihanna recorded it.
I don't know, it just feels like we missed out on a potentially great album. I still regard Rated R as her best work to date though. |

I agree Rated r is her best work to date.
I recall the original working title of Rated R was "RiRi". That was never confirmed but i recall it being labelled that on several sites. and i can't find any of the sites where it said that but i am not making it up. |

Rated R in some way was born out of a horrible life changing event in her life. Who knows what we would of had if that never happened.

This isn't similar to Original Doll as this album didn't seem very far along in the production process. I don't believe they found a single for this album and it became the Rated R project.
Original Doll was much more mysterious as the project was more or less complete and Britney herself even played a single on radio for it. At the time it was said her pregnancy forced the album to be shelved, but this didn't match up with the timing and she could have begun promotions. The other view is that her label didn't like the personal lyrics and topics covered in songs such as Rebellion and Mona Lisa and pulled the plug. |
