Not sure what's more irritating - Charity's character or Debbie's perennially miserable gob.

What?!?!? Seriously? her reaction is the most realistic thing the show has *ever* done... drop a pallet on someone? A night in the hossie up and about in a couple of days... what's that you? run over and dragged along the street? you'll be right as rain in a day.

There is loads of dodgy old shit to have a pop at ED for that most certainly isn't one of them!

I quite like it at the moment, I think the fact that they have revisited Val's HIV is a good thing. I am liking her and Eric's relationship with Finn, I thought it was lovely how they helped him find Emma, it was also very touching what Finn said about Val being like a mother figure to him when he was talking to the nurse who has the hots for him. When they use Val and Eric properly they are great characters.

Laurel's drinking has also brought her back to someone watchable and less sanctimonious, I also like the fact that Ashley still helps her even after the way she treated him.

Pearl's gambling has been slowing brewing along nicely as well. I do wonder when Paddy and Rhona are going to find/figure it out.

I do think the Sharma's are past their sell by date though, Georgia has become irritating, Jai and Megan are just boring. Megan has potential she just needs to be away from Jai (it's a shame they killed Robbie off and turned Declan pyscho). What's the point in Priya and Rishi, they don't do anything and neither would be missed.

I’m glad that the Bartons are taking a back seat, I’m hoping some time off screen will give the writers time to re-evaluate the character of Emma, and make her slightly less psycho, and also tone down Ross’ attitude and Finn’s moaning!

Emmerdale is just a few inches from hitting the low point where Corrie is. It's been on a decline since Katie's death, which was all a predictable load of nonsense.

Every soap has it's yawny moments, but Emmerdale has fallen from grace majorly in the last month or so. Like overnight actually. At least with Corrie's decline, it was gradual.

The acting and writing has been absolutley atrocious.

The acting has been crap for a long time. It's no better than HO acting. There's not a single actor in the entire cast who would get better work if they left. Maybe Michael Parr but thats it.

Totally disagree.

Ryan Hawley is very good. Natalie Anderson has been amazing. John Bowe and Gillian Kearney are both respected actors with a track record outside ED. Nicola Wheeler's great. Katherine Dow Blyton and Charlotte Bellamy are both good.

They've got a great ensemble cast.

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

In the words of a classic old Children's TV Series

"Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go Out and Do Something Less Boring Instead".

Oh wait, you dont watch Emmie any more, cause as far as I know Kate Oates is still the Series Producer

BIB: So a woman should get over being molested, accused of being a paedophile, and just get on with life, in just over a week? Could you?

I'm not sure if you actually watch HO but if you do, you might need some specs! My God.

The acting in ED is far superior to that in HO. As another poster pointed out, there are some very experienced and respected actors in the cast and the whole ensemble works fantastically well IMO.

Natalie Anderson has played a blinder, and whilst I despise Danny Miller, there's no doubt that his portrayal of Aaron has always been top notch, but lately he's really knocked it out of the park. Charlotte Bellamy, always delivers WHEN SHE'S GIVEN THE RIGHT MATERIAL.

I watch both HO and ED for VERY different reasons. It's impossible to compare the two.

They have indeed c&s - definitely more good actors than bad ones.
Great sls recently too. Long may it continue.

I don't like the fact that they appear to be going down the sensationalist route again with the sexual abuse storyline, with:

Spoiler
David kidnapping Lachlan next week.

Luckily the acting from Natalie Anderson has been top notch and it looks like Chrissie's finally going to realise that her son is lying.

I honestly disagree. You want stale look at Corrie.

Apart from Slugden and Toxic its quite amusing at the moment

Part of why I think they should stick to one soap.

There's room for two soaps. Rather than axe one they should cut down the number of epidodes and the size of the casts. Both shows have too many crap characters played by crap actors.Concentrate on the quality rather than quantity.

Nicola Weeler has already tried to make it away from ED and got no work at all.
Jeff Hordley and Emma Atkins struggled and ended up going back.
I dare any of this cast to leave the show. They are no better than soap standard actors so why take a chance?

Don't be naive spungey. What are they going to replace those eps with that could regularly pull in even half the number of viewers (ie advertiser-friendly, which is all that matters to them) than the soaps get?

The fact that (s)he thinks it bad cos there hasn't been much 'Robert and Aaron together' and not much Ross pretty well tells us all we need to know about what that particular fm needs from a soap I think.

You make a decent point, but I would imagine the same could be said of many actors that rose to fame on any one of our soaps? Not just ED.

There surely aren't many actors of that age, that have left soapland and established themselves elsewhere?

Samantha Womack and Lacey Turner both left Eastenders and found decent work elsewhere but still went back.

Actually if you look at all the Uk soaps, there are very few actors/actresses who have managed to make via a soap career.

The most obvious being Sarah Lancashire and Suranne Jones. I suppose we could also put Jenna Coleman into the category as well.

So going by Spunger reasoning all of the UK soaps are full of crap actors who will never work anywhere else

Who is 'we'? The world in general, the entire population of the UK., the couple of dozen posters on DS Emmerdale threads, or just you and your shadow?
You're talking about some of my favourite characters - esp. Paddy, Marlon and Sam.
