If you were a voter how would you vote if you were neutral, that's my point. Neutral means not supporting anyone or any side, surely.

I would take it as keeping an open mind, I'd say supporting one side or the other is ok, but then what do you do if that side turns out to be wrong on occasion, do you still support the same side knowing it's wrong, switch to the side that's right at the time or abstain? opens up a whole can of worms there.

I'm not sure that was ever the point. It's always been a popularity contest with the winner getting a monetary reward. Nominations from within the House and votes from without.

It was certainly purer in the earlier days, purer I the sense of no magazine deals in mind, no guarantee of fame and not the same awareness of the cameras either.

I guess your right mollie, it has always been a competition, it's just more obvious these days.

After BB1 Caroline and Nicola were pictured drunk and falling over at some TV awards if I remember correctly. I think it lost any sense of innocence pretty quickly.

I wonder whether that may be the moment that was the catalyst for the influx of wannabes, knowing they would get publicity and famous just for being rather than doing?
well remembered trevor !!!

Depends very much on the member, I try to acknowledge when my favourites aren't perfect, loved perez and Jim but they were both flawed human beings. Their flaws didn't stop me liking them but I hope people realised I wasn't always going to say they did the right things,

Yes I remember that too .........then after BB3 I remember Jade coming out and getting an agent - I think after bb4 it started to go down hill. I clearly remember being staggered by the 'show offs' in BB5 - suddenly they were no longer 'normal'.

Spot on Penny, it became just another launch pad or platform depending how you look at it.

I was the same with BB5. For me, that was the watershed series where the tone shifted from being a social experiment where we watched relatively ordinary people, into the more low brow telly we know it as today, where they went out of their way to find 'big' characters with no boundaries. Wasn't BB5 the one with the 'evil theme'?

I definitely remember BB5 and BB6 being jam-packed with exhibitionists. I lost count of how often people got naked or got frisky in front of the cameras. Tbf, until Stephen Goode and Kimberley last year, or the CBB with Luisa and Jasmine, there hadn't really been much of the sex stuff for donkeys years. But in BB5 and 6, it felt like every other night something saucy happened....Nadia and Becky sucking nipples, Shell streaking, Michelle and Chicken Stu having it off in their 'den', Kinga and the bottle, Orla and Makosi in the hot tub, Makosi and Anthony in the hot tub, Maxwell and Saskia under the covers, Craig having a sneaky self-session.

Yes the evil theme. It did radically change with BB5. Didn't they have the first secret room ? That horrible Michelle and another woman, who I think was removed from the house, went in there and could watch the others? I remember thinking at the time how much deliberately contrived conflict that would cause. Then look what happened. They've been trying to recreate that ever since. We were also regularly treated to Jason masturbating in that series. It has been relatively tame for years. The early days were far more raunchy with nudity, topless sunbathing and bath sharing etc. The very first BB they were all running around naked and chucking paint on themselves pretty quickly

They had to select show offs for BB5 because BB4 was boring beyond belief.

Viewing figures had plummeted when fourth series was on and bosses didn't want a repeat of that so that's why they cast wannabes the following year.

I didn't mind though because the fifth series was the best, in my opinion.

There was one older woman and I can't remember her name. She had huge breast implants and looked a bit like Julie Goodyear and she re-entered the house for some reason. Was it Leah? NIcki and Pete's year. She was telling them all how staggered she was by how much money she'd made in a very short time..

The thing is this only demonstrates that BB4 didn't have show offs rather than there were no show offs before BB5 as there were certainly show offs in BB1, 2 and 3 and even 4 tbh. It's just for a variety of reasons BB4 got a boring rep but 2 and 3 certainly didn't.

I've never agreed with the view that BB was once an innocent experiment purely about seeing how different people live together and that it has changed massively since the early days. It was a contest from the get go and the HMs lied and had game plans from that very first series. We had a showmance in that very firt series too and we had nudity, kissing and sexual touching. I remember when the perceived house floozy Mel massaged or was massaged by Andrew () and he walked off with an erection The camera focused right in on this.

I think the show was very much set from the beginning and has more or less followed on since then. There's been talk of manipulation and show favourites ever since then as well. The only, but very significant change since then is less and less to the point of virtually no live feed and that has had the huge negative effect on the show in my view, well that and there being themes. The themes make manipulation normal and lack of live feed means we hardly get to know the HMs and as a consequence find it impossible to make out the HM characters, personalities and their actions and mean we're totally in the hands of the producers to tell us what the story is.,

It's definitely not what it was but that is more in regard to how we enjoy the show than the nitty gritty of the type of HMs and their wishes for after the show etc

Yes, but not many people did.

It was slated in the media. I just remember it getting a huge negative reaction for being boring.

Cameron was seen as the most interesting...

Latest from hatie hopkins:

"First missing girl to Syria named: Sharmeena Begum. Sharmeena means shy. Given she is now servicing half of ISIS I fear she is anything but"

I dunno about anyone else but I think this is disgraceful. Of course the girl was stupid and naive and very probably full of regret for what she's done. I don't think that's any reason to mock her and hurt her father even more.

Just another example of her disgusting, juvenile and moronic behaviour, to get attention of course. How many men has she "serviced" and how old was she? Hardly in any place to make up disgusting rubbish against any 15 year old, simply to idiotically condemn is she? Her projection is never ending.
