http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/news/a634344/hollyoaks-tom-cunningham-to-shock-peri-lomax-with-public-proposal.html

Tom is going to propose to Peri! How ridiculous. Not only are they 15, and so not legally aloud to marry yet, they also have been going out for less than a year. They' need parental permission to get married at 16, and I can't see Jack & Frankie or Leela allowing this to happen.

The fact that this 'romantic proposal' happens during a SCHOOL PLAY! Sorry hollyoaks, but this is just ew!

The proposal is clearly due to her pregnancy, he obviously thinks it is e right thing to do. Tbh my parents actually got engaged at the age of 15 have 35 years & 4 children later are still very happy.

I think they would be allowed to marry. Leela basically still believes she met her "true love" at 14, and Jack and Frankie saw what happened to Jono. It wasn't their fault, of course, but the show could easily pull that card to have them agree to Tom's marriage.

The issue of the show presenting this as cute and romantic is another thing (my grandmother married at 15, but she came from a different time and different culture. She never was as spoilt and irresponsible as Peri) But since when does Birkwood care about what healthy relationships look like?

They aren't old enough to marry at 15, no.

Badly phrased, sorry - I meant that if they wanted to do it at 16, I think they'd get the necessary parental permission. (Even if it makes no sense for Jack and Frankie/Leela to agree, the show will do it anyway)

Ohh ok

Peri has only just turned 15 so it's not really hollyoaks fashion to keep a couple together for a year haha

To is just desperate to stop her having an abortion, i can't see her saying yes though but i'd love to see the family reactions. Especially since they don't know she is pregnant, they won't see the reason for it.

I think it actually makes a lot of sense for Tom to want to marry and start his own family with Peri because of the amount of family members he has lost over the years.

Personally I don't see how any 15 year old boy would want to propose to his girlfriend. Pregnant or not.

I think it does make make sense for him to want his own family since he never really had one himself.

He's probably trying to do the right thing by her, I think it's quite sweet. It's not the most sensible thing to do but it might make her feel better. It's a show of support, that he wants to be their for her etc.
