Thought it might be interesting for people to report on good new things (recipes, products) that they've come across.

My contribution is San Pellegrino sparkling grapefruit drink

http://www.sanpellegrinofruitbeverag...n/pompelmo-226

It's really refreshing and different.

And I made this soda bread yesterday (I did add salt). It was better than I thought it could be and it really was very easy:

Giovanni Rana filled ravioli. I don't know how long it's been out but I've only just tried them and I was very impressed!

Oh, yes, they're great. Their parmesan sauce is pretty good, too but the stuffed pasta is one of the best I've come across (for bought).

My recent discoveries have been a lot more prosaic as I've decided to lose some weight and eat a lot more vegetables, in fact have a vegetarian meal as my main meal of the day..........so my new things are savoy cabbages, broccoli, frozen peas, various green beans, tinned pulses and beans for 'padding' in curries and stir fries

also rice cakes for snacks........I didn't think they would be so nice !

I've had something new today........tea !

Well obviously not entirely 'new'. I've never been a tea drinker......I suppose I must have drunk it when I was a child in the family home and maybe when I was a student in digs.......but I haven't consciously drunk tea for probably 30 years

I don't know why but I picked up some teabags today at the shop and I've had 3 cups of tea ........

I love the blood orange one they do and the lemon. I generally find any drink non diet as too sweet but these aren't.

I was the same a confirmed coffee drinker since I could remember. I actively disliked the taste of tea. Then a few years ago we had afternoon tea somewhere and I had tea instead of coffee,
completly hooked
and now only have one or two coffees a week. And I like any tea from Assam by Twinnings to Asda's 30p for 100 bags.

Things like butterbeans are fantastic for soaking up the flavours in both casseroles and salad dressings.
I have friends who flatly refuse to try it though, so haunted are they by childhood memories of bland boiled beans.
I'm so glad I rediscovered butterbeans and how tasty they can be, treated right.

Butterbeans are lovely! I love them fried, with onions, tomato, oregano and spinach. These are nice, too:
http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/5...y-bean-burgers (cheesy bean burgers)

I made this yesterday without the Quorn strips. The sauce was awesome!
http://www.quorn.co.uk/recipes/veget...beef-teriyaki/
(Noodles, onion, mushrooms and red pepper in a teriyaki etc sauce).

Also, not tasted it yet, but we found Cornish Cruncher Terrine With Red Onion Marmalade in Marks and Spencer.

I know it's sacrilege but I bought some Parmalat bechamel sauce to make a moussaka instead of making my own and it was really good (well, good for what it was):

Gochujang chilli paste, I bought some for a korean fried chicken recipe a while ago and its brilliant. Its sweet and hot with a distinctive asian flavour with anise, garlic and soy flavours. Great as a condiment but I'm keen to try it other recipes too. I've seen it online and I believe many of the big supermarkets stock it, but I got mine from asiana express in Leicester for about £3 a tub. It goes along way too.

This is the recipe I used it for http://www.thebritishmenu.com/crispy...fried-chicken/

Two more

Sicilian Merinda tomatoes. Taste different. Hard to describe but lovely.
http://italianfood.about.com/od/vege...ri-Merinda.htm

and M&S Ancho Chilli Relish

It's not hot but the best relish from a jar I've had for ages. I'm going to use some next week to make a pasta sauce with fresh tomatoes and yoghurt (made a dip like it because we had no dip a couple of days ago when needed and we just thought it would work as a sauce).
