Congratulations to Coronation Street but based on form it shouldn't have won. But these are the TRIC Awards where they make some very odd choices and vote for some of the same shows and people year after year.

I suppose it depends on taste ?

I have ALWAYS enjoyed Corrie more than EastEnders.

I've always liked EastEnders more but even I can be impartial when it comes to voting. It's like they don't watch anything. EastEnders winning a BAFTA in 2013 over Coronation Street shocked me.

Since the noughties the Television And Radio Industries Club Awards have really had some forehead slapping decisions.

I doubt a lot of people who diss the award would do if their fave soap won ...

....just saying

I did when EastEnders won the BAFTA in 2013 over Corrie. It was the reveal of Kat's mystery lover. A good episode but over the whole year Corrie was better and deserved it.

I was talking about how they looked on the actual night of the awards ..not how they appear in the various soaps...

You're not really impartial though are you? The 'local Am Dram' to which you refer was highly praised and pulled in 11.5m viewers (more if you include the 2m+ on iPlayer) more than any ep of Corrie has seen in recent memory. Bitter much?

I'm not bitter that Corrie won an award. Well done to them but it doesn't mean they are the best. It's the opinion of a small panel of people. In wider terms the show has been losing viewers hand over fist and is receiving a lot of criticism. I think it's obvious that it has issues. But fair play to them they still won.

No, not bitter , you misunderstand my post.
THAT is MY opinion, not the viewers vote.
I'm trying to say that the TRIC awards obviously see something worthy in Corrie for it to win. Might not be your opinion necessarily though.

I think EastEnders is an absolute pile of whatsit that is overacted terribly, but obviously some people (a lot) like it...as is their prerogative.

It wouldn't do if we all liked the same stuff, would it ?

Quite. I've never heard of it. Mind, I've never heard of any of these award things, which seem to happen once a week.

Who presented it? Not b****y stephen b****y fry, was it?

I think the main problem with panel voting for the likes of the BAFTA and RTS awards is, they are voting on a particular scene or scenes submitted by the broadcaster. This does not take into account how the show has performed overe the past 12 months and the state of the show. I think the TRIC awards are probably the same. If this is the case. they are pretty pointless.

To be fair I don't think the public vote is much better, with obsessed fans multiple voting.

No not at all. Isn't that the BSA's? The TRIC awards (The Television and Industry Club Awards) began in 1931 on the Radio and have continued to this day. A covereted award.

I only watch Corrie regularly, but I wouldn't vote it best soap right now even though it's my favourite.

Its bizarre to say the least and suggests that these, awards are very ivory tower and insular being more about industry luvvies talking to each other rather than the public.

A very difficult decision to make. I've never seen danny dyer, michelle connor is awful, and steve mcdonald (the character, note) has no personality.
