He adds nothing to the show but diversity imo. I think his daughter potentially makes a great addition to the Mitchell family, but him - not so much. He's been on the square for well over a year now and has made no impact.

You can't just have characters thats all as important as each over. If that was the case 3/4 of the cast would be gone! I like Aleks.

I wouldn't say he's necessarily 'needed' but I like his presence on the show.

He's needed as the other candidate for Roxy's "Who's the Daddy" storyline.

He's the best Market manager we've ever had. Arrogant, funny and very cute. I love his relationships...Roxy, Tamwar, the Market traders, Charlie, Matthew....

This poll is really tough for me. I like Aleks, he's actually one of my favourite recent characters to be introduced into Eastenders in the last few years but honestly, the show doesn't particularly NEED him. I think the actor who plays him is talented and I enjoy the sort of supporting role that he's had in Eastenders since he's joined. I don't want him to leave, and I've voted yes but at the same time I know the show would go on without his loss feeling too big a blow.

No. He seems strangely detached from everything and his relationship with Roxy is ridiculous. I also don't like his hair.

I like Aleks. He is far more realistic than a number of other characters, and the actor has great comic timing and a bit of charisma.

![]() I suppose you could aim the 'what is the point of' to a number of characters. What is the point of Stacey or Whitney or Jay or Tamwar or Sonia . . . A soap needs a variety of characters I guess but someone like Aleks should be cherished as he is such a great and spot on addition to the show. |

Why EastEnders feels the need to have deadwood is beyond me...
Les Pam Lee Aleks Donna Kush Martin Fatboy Are all deadwood, and there is absolutely no need for them on the show at al! Les, Pam and Lee should be axed. Donna should be made an extra on the market. Aleks should be made recurring like Mr Lister. There was no point bringing a recast Martin back, unless he's being paired with Sonia. Kush should he developed more, with his siblings introduced to make the show more ethnic. All of these characters are very boring and add nothing to the show. Why resort to boring, one dimensional characters like Les, Pam and Donna when they're capable of creating characters like Grant Mitchell and Steve Owen?:/. It's a bit silly tbh. Anyway, a bit of point, but yeah that's what I think of Aleks. He should be nothing more than a recurring market manager! .

I agree! This applies to all of DTC's characters introduced since 2013, other than the Carters and Charlie. It's like next week for example. The whole week revolves around the deadwood I have named above. Therefore, I might give it a miss to stop me moaning and return to watching, when Ian and Phil return the week after... The real deal! .

He should be nothing more than a recurring market manager! .Martin is Pauline & Arthur's Son so James Bye has stepped into big shoes and I see Martin & Stacey getting together. The Cokers need their Grandson to really flesh them out as a family unit. Kush is tasty but I agree I would like to see his Family arrive. Lee is an odd one because he has been wasted but last week in the episode with Whitney at night I thought Danny Boy was better. Lee is the weakest of the Carters but neither him or Nancy have had any development. |

I like Aleks. He hasn't been given the best material (or ANY material lately) but the actor has a bit of charisma about him, which is more than can be said for many of the male characters.

There doesn't have to be a burning 'need' for a character. All of the aforementioned characters are fulfilling the everyday role, which in many ways is just as important as the big lead star roles.
