Next week sees the return of Bethany Platt to the street. Actress Lucy Fallon has spoken to DS about taking on the role:

She certainly seems like a nice girl judging by the interview.

Apparently Bethany is going to be a "wild child". I'm just hoping that she has some likeable qualities and isn't turned into a complete brat.

Sarah Lou follows Bethany back onto the cobbles and I have to say I'm looking forward to her return. I loved the sibling relationship that Sarah and David had so I'm hoping they will be sharing plenty of scenes. Just a shame that they've made the predictable move of putting her with camp Callum.

Anybody else looking forward to seeing the grown up Bethany and the return of Sarah?

I am, Sarah was one of my favourite Corrie character's growing up and Platts are probably the only thing keeping me watching so I can't wait, long overdue imo.

A resounding no. The 'return' sounds so contrived - a 'wild child' runs away from their parent in a fit of adolescent angst, only for said parent to rock up and be convinced to stay there for the foreseeable. Yawn!

However, Bethany has been cast well, as she does look like Sarah.

I agree it seems a little unrealistic that Sarah comes back to get Bethany and ends up staying but we'll see how it plays out. I also agree the casting looks good imo, despite people complaining about the age of the actress. She's supposed to look older than 14 anyway and she definitely looks like Sarah.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to it. Sarah used to be one of my favourite characters when she was in it and it was actually one of her storylines that made me start watching Corrie in the first place.

Opposite way round for me, though I'd have preferred it if they'd made the story that Sarah had to return for some reason with a nice but 'too cultured for a Manchester backstreet' Bethany trailing reluctantly in her wake!!
Sadly, though I liked Sarah growing up, in the 12 months before she left she had turned into a self obsessed, shrieking nightmare so I just really hope she has matured in the time she's been away!! If she has then , yes I look forward to both!!

Monday night's said "Gail gets a surprise visitor" that would have be a lovely, logical time for Sarah Lou to come back, but we got gruesome Gavin instead!

No, no, no to Bethany.

Though I'm looking forward to Sarah as it will be nice to see all the Platts together, as its been over a decade since they have all been back together. Also intrigued to see how Nick and Sarah get along.

Am expected a thick, very un-Italian accent from Bethany as well. She'll come in sounding like Sophie Webster.

No. I think Sarah is a terrible actress. Probably the reason why she's coming back. No work. I saw her in one thing after she left. And she was awful.

I liked her as Sarah Lou.

She was in casualty, Waterloo road, Call the midwife and Doctors, to name a few things.

I am for one. Sarah was a big character in the early 00s and Tina O'Brien always delivered the goods. She'll be an asset to the show if given the right material.

Sarah - maybe, have to see how she goes.

Bethany - NO, she sounds like an awful troublemaking brat ( as if soap doesn't have enough of those), but mainly because she's going to look absurd in scenes with Sarah given the actress looks so much older than her 'mother'! It's going to look so stupid and it will distract from what is going on in any scenes she's in as its so obvious! She looks closer to 40 than 14!!

I don't really see any reason for her to have an Italian accent. She would already have developed a manc accent before they left. Plus she went to an English school in Milan. I'd rather them not try to make the actress put on an awful Italian accent and just get on with the building of the character.

Apparently they act like sisters too and don't have a typical mother-daughter relationship. This issue has mainly been created because Sarah gave birth at 13 so the age gap is small anyway and Tina O'Brien has hardly aged at all since she was last in the show. She certainly doesn't look like she's in her late 20's. Yes they could've cast a younger actress but obviously they want Bethany to be a major character so hired someone older.

Where will they live? Do we know yet?! Let's get real here, there is no way that the old Sarah would beg a room in the house owned by the brother she despises! That's even if there were a room to offer her!!

Hopefully we'll see her move into Grasmere Drive with Audrey (I love that house), or perhaps take Nick's spare room?

I would have much preferred to see Sarah return with the means to buy a place of her own, but given she's about to hook up with Callum, that seems unlikely.
