With Corrie, does anyone else???
Find themselves watching old clips on Youtube, from when the show was good?
.I love watching them! I've watched both EastEnders and Corrie since 2007, and whilst EastEnders was the superior soap 2007-2010 IMO, Corrie took over 2011-2013 under Phil Collinson, whilst EastEnders became an absolute joke! Now EastEnders has improved a lot, and has picked itself back up, it's been my favourite soap again since 2014, and Coronation Street has continued to grow weaker and weaker under Stuart Blackburn, to the point where the show is an absolute shadow of it's former self, and a carbon copy of Hollyoaks, with plots like Callum, Wild Child Beth and Steph & Andy. I'm more of a casual Corrie viewer these days, but I used to be a regular and I LOVED it! I understand there's probably some fans on here who loved it way back when Hilda Ogden, Bet Lynch and Elsie Tanner, etc... Were all in it, which is understandable, as that was probably the show at it's peak, but I also love watching clips from the 2003-2004 golden era and the brilliant Phil Collinson era! From the Richard Hillman storyline, to Mad Maya, to Becky's exit and to the Rovers fire, each one IMO and many more were absolutely fantastic and compelling drama, mixed with some great comedy, a lively atmosphere around the show and classic characters like Deirdre, Hayley, Mike Baldwin, Jack and Vera, Blanche and Betty, who are sadly no longer on the show! . I watch the bus crash episode from this year and it just doesn't match up to any of those AT ALL! So, I was just wondering, does anyone else enjoy watching such clips on youtube and do any other Corrie fans watch these clips and realise how bad the show has become under Blackburn? .(This isn't really a Corrie bashing thread, more of a praising the old days thread and wondering if anybody watches these Youtube videos of the old Corrie, like me? .)

I love watching old 90s clips especially of characters still in it like Sally, The Platts, Leanne and Steve. I felt amused the other day as I saw one of a child David Platt saying that he was never going to want a girlfriend and Gail telling him that would change.

. Yeah it is also nice to see characters on the old clips that are still in it today. However, I feel a lot of those characters have now just become a bit one dimensional, because the storytelling is poor for all of them. Steve is the only one out of all of them, who has received a good storyline this year! .It's like with Gail and Sally. They're nothing more than comedy characters these days, which is quite sad when I look back on the Richard Hillman storyline and the material Helen Worth is capable of. Again, I find myself looking over old clips, thinking ' '.

I've watched since 1971 but find myself watching mainly 00's on YouTube!! I loved that influx of young characters in the early part of the 00's & watching their progress throughout the decade, many of them are still in today but under Blackburn have been pretty much sat around as extras while he tries to force us into liking the likes of Andrea, Callum, the Nazirs & Erica!! My most watched year by a mile is 2008, that whole saga with Liam, Maria, Carla & Tony Gordon, though sadly there's a real dearth of episodes from 01, 02, 03 & 04 to watch! My big hope is some kind soul will do what the mysterious Mr Magister did with 00 and fill in all those old episodes from that era, then I'd really be a happy man!!
