CS - Is Blackburn Deluded or living on a different planet?
Yesterday he said Corrie is going to be back to and at its best.
Now we all know that he is the worst producer ever, the term producer doesnt even define him and his T**t Hat, id define him more as the ice berg which sunk the titanic! so he is deluded? |

As for the worst producer I think that title goes to Kirkwood at Hollyoaks also you should look up Charles Pratt he ran All My Children into the ground, they said the actors would come of story meetings with him crying because he didn't care what there characters had done in the past.. Now that is a bad producer. |

It annoys me even more that the ITV are failing to see, they are not listening to their fans. Blackburn is taking corrie down a boring and dull road. The sooner the ITV realise this the better.
Answer me this, when was the last time you actually got excited and gripped by a storyline. I know I haven't since Phil Collison was the producer. Eastenders has been brilliant recently, and corrie needs the same makeover and lift EE had when DTC came into force. |

OP I so agree with you. EAch time I se a spoiler for CS I read it with hope but the minute I read it my heart sinks again. It's a catalogue of trials and tribulations.
When there's opportunity for some light relief someone has forced a rubbish 'comedy' thing like the Nazirs and the chickens on us. ! It's unbelievably awful at the moment. This SL with Simon and Leanne leaves me astonished. |

Exactly, it needs a producer who knows the history of Corrie like the back of his hand! The Hat really hasn't got a clue.
It is more like the "old" Coronation street, and I like that, but they need a far stronger cast to pull it off. The Nazirs simply couldn't be less funny. The producer urgently needs to sort out the continuity, keep the characters the same and get better actors (not headline grabbers) |

I think this is somewhat true. Blackburn has couple bad moves like the Andrea/Lloyd pairing and the horrible Nazirs, but other than that the show has been pretty enjoyable, I liked the Peter/Tina affair and her murder, Steve's Depression, and fake Gavin. Also certain characters have really flourished under him like Sally, Tim, Tracy and Amy. He has also brought back several characters from the past like Todd, Jenny, Liz and Sarah. Blackburn clearly loves Coronation Street and wants to do good by it.
Also Steve has gotten a bit more to do than just being a comedy character. |

its like how he stuck Callum with Sarah :/
i dont find the guy intimitading at all :/ i find Shariffs chickens more scary and sticking him with Davids sis is very lazy and we can all see the outcome from a mile off. i do agree maybe my OP prehaps was a tad harsh but after seeing him talking all happy as larry about the show i thought "can he honeslty not see how dull and wooden he has made the show which on its tram crash week 5 years ago was pulling in 14.9 million a disgrace with 4.8 million views??" Nazirs - Awful (dont even get me started on Zeedan!) Faye being pregnant - it would have been more exciting if the brick with dennis carved his name on back in the day got up the duff. Thats just two i can think off feel free to add yours

It's got back an everyday feeling since he took over, like it used to have years ago. Not such a reliance on OTT sensationalism. Some of the new characters aren't great but - I'll say this for him - if a character's getting a bad reception he bins them pretty quickly ( Lloyd's ex and their daughter, for instance). Still waiting for the exit of the elder Nadirs, though. I, too, love the Fake Gavin story, Sally and Tim pairing, adore the characters of Steph and Luke, and even Maddy is growing on me. I do think he was better on Emmerdale than he is on Corrie, though. In fact, I haven't enjoyed ED at all since he left and that Oates woman took over. |

Great points. I agree with Sally. If I am honest I was not a big fan of the character before, and couldn't stand her but find her far likeable now she is with Tim. She seems less of a bitch now as well.

If your theory about unpopular characters is correct Michelle must have about five minutes left?

The trouble with Blackburn is that he believes everything he says
Unfortunately no one else does |

Like I said yesterday, I watch episodes from the wonderful 2003-2004 era and Phil Collinson's era and think 'Wow, this show used to be so good...'
This is not Corrie at it's best. What. So. Ever. So yes, he must be deluded! .

I think people need to get over abusing him and just go with it. it gets very tedious after the 57th thread on the subject. |

The decline in viewing figures (more than can be attributed to the natural downward trend affecting most/all shows) suggest that it's not just people on here who're unhappy with the show.
You only have to read the comments on their Facebook page to see fans who have watched the show for years aren't happy. They were all slagging off the fake Gavin storyline the other day, and I honestly can't blame them! |

This is correct, it just seem to be cool in this forum to hate him and his decisions at the moment, but on the whole he has been doing a good job.It is still the number one soap, ALL soaps have suffered a loss in ratings, but Corrie bobs along nicely most of the time. I am enjoying all of the storylines and it is still my number one soap .
I think people need to get over abusing him and just go with it. it gets very tedious after the 57th thread on the subject. If all soaps have lost ratings, then can you explain to me why Corrie is down Year On Year by over one million viewers a lot of the time, whilst a lot of EastEnders episodes have been up year on year? The whole 'all soaps have lost ratings is true', but when the show was attracting over 3 million more viewers 2 years ago, it's evidential there's a problem. |

For me, CS is terrible at the moment. Storylines such as Faye's pregnancy and Leanne's upcoming domestic abuse sound interesting, but on screen are executed terribly. It's a shame, I used to look forward to it but since Blackburn joined I've barely watched it.
I'll give him some positive feedback though, characters like Tracy and Sally have really shone through, especially Sal. She's even more hilarious than usual but it's disappointing when the only good thing you can pick up on in a soap is particular characters being enjoyable.

Peter/Tina was absolutely sad. The beginning of the end... There was also no need to kill her off. It actually diminished her character. She won't be remembered in a while due to the naff way they ended her.

The Pacing is awful at the moment. Scenes run in very little structure and episodes usually fell like they have been combined together. What was the bizarre filler with the kebab shop all about and why did it take up loads of scenes. Gail is one of the most iconic characters in the street yet her wedding was not even noticed by most of the cast. Has anyone other than the Plats or Sally Webster even commented on Kylie going?
The Bus crash was pointless and an excuse for a ratings bosting stunt. The same story could easily have worked if he knocked Sinead down in the street for what affect its had on the rest of the passengers. And the worst of them all. Roy and Garry. Was all resolved in a week and not one thing has changed. Everyone forgot it very quickly. Utterly pointless. And it was a major dramatic plot as well. |
