Up until recently, I would've definitely put Jane Beale relatively high up there on this list. Laurie is finally receiving the acclaim she so rightfully deserves, after years of trudging away in the background. Whilst she's had big storylines in the past, other characters have always seemed to be given the stronger focus, annoyingly.

As for the character, I've always been very fond of Jane. She's often perceived as merely being boring 'ol 'plain Jane', but she's far from that in my opinion. She's a great leading lady, which I think is something that has been of great prevalence throughout the show's 30th Anniversary week.

Who can forget the irresistible Anne Wilkinson and the loveable Lance Wilkinson. Neighbours has plummeted since the mid nineties. That had some brilliant plots such as Toadie and Billy smoking and Mark Gottlieb joining a cult. Ah memories.

I remember Mark Gottieb joining the Church, he was set to marry Annalise who was stunning and he looked at the cross in the Church and couldn't go through with it, he must of being mad. I remember my Dad took me and my Sister to Blackpool that day and we begged him to get us back home for 5.35 when Neighbours started so we wouldn't miss the episode, he thought we were mad, looking back he was probably right, then again there was no such thing as Dailymotion or Youtube etc were you could catch up on the episode later.

Melissa was also an underrated character and Billy Kennedy's first ever girlfriend.

I always thought Mitzeee on Hollyoaks was underrated.

She seems to be quite popular on this forum, but outside of DS, I don't think the character got the attention she deserved. Her exit definitely did not represent how good the character was.

Carol Jackson at the moment. Lindsey Coulson is such a talented and engaging actress. I love how intense her serious scenes are, but I also enjoy her lighter moments like in the Vic and the chippy yesterday.

From the past, I always thought Yolande Truman was highly underrated. A strong female character who should've been kept with Patrick. They were good together and she would have been a fantastic mother figure for Denise and Kim. With Patrick's ongoing recovery from his stroke, Kim's giving birth recently and Denise's personal problems, Yolande would've been a great source of support for them. I hate how EE wasted her in the end, making her more like a battleaxe rather than keeping that bubbly personality when she arrived.

I personally liked the Di Marco family. There was something about their dynamic that I enjoyed.

Ava Hartman, Kirsty Branning, Jake Stone and Danny Pennant were all very underrated from recent times. For the flak that Lorraine Newman receives, they were the best characters she created. DTC should've kept them on.

I so agree with you. However, I loved her exit. She arrived as Mitzeee and left as Anne with a future and Riley's baby, It was the best in terms of fairy tale we could get after he was killed. I like the thought of her in America being wild.

I think Moira Dingle is underrated (is everyone shocked I said that? It floored me)
