Carol lets Liam bunk of school and doesn't go ballistic then she breaks down and cries when Sonia asks her what's wrong and Carol said she really doesn't know what's wrong, Could she be suffering from depression?

No she's just a cantankerous, miserable, bitter old witch who can't live with her decisions or let things go.

Can't stand her.

She meets with a cancer counselor tomorrow, so it's probably just to do with that.

Maybe (I don't know I only ever known one person who had cancer and they didn't survive) but maybe there is a side effect / after effect to the medication or treatment she's had that causes depression. Or maybe it's common once you've been through that (I can't spell the word traumor?) that life after suddenly becomes too much? IF so, I think it's important to the story line.

It honestly seems like she's just depressed and considering how life has been for carol I wouldn't be too hard on her for feeling that way. I've struggled to feel sorry for her after the way she sent away David who was committed to her

This makes more sense ethier her cancer has come back or she is going through depression which gives the actress a decent storyline.

I agree. I liked her trying to help Alice when she was in jail, otherwise Carol's just horrible. Nothing's ever bloody good enough for her. I don't mind characters or indeed real people who complain a lot because I do myself but she's just so sour faced, there's no light and shade to her; it's all whining, being negative about everything and having a go at everyone all the time. She has no sense of humour at all and never smiles or says anything nice.

When watching tonight's scenes, the first thing I thought of was depression.

Didn't she decide against breast reconstruction after the double mastectomy. Maybe she regrets her decision now.

Very late menopause? Or perhaps old age has finally kicked in for her now that Bianca has gone.

Unfortunately, Carol suffers with a very debilitating illness - she is terminally miserable.

Why does everything in EE lately, have to be so depressing? We've just had the 30th Anniversary, so they should be happy.

DTC does have some strange ideas when it comes to storylines.

Possibly this. Maybe the thought of showing her body to a man is just too much. Either that or her cancer has returned.

Yeah I thought about that. They haven't really covered with Carol, what she feels after the event. I would imagine this is playing on her mind alot. Many women feel disfigured after breast cancer surgery and need help getting their head around it. Carol did her normal, chop chop, move on, all's fine thing so I wouldn't be surprised if it's really hitting her now and causing her to be depressed.

I'm pleased EE are doing a depression story after cancer treatment as it is unfortunately very common. The assumption that someone is OK and will just go back to normal is not so easy. As for Carol treatment of David blame the producers as he was only going to be around for a few months. They shouldn't have made out it was going to be a committed relationship when the actor had only signed on short term. It was an awful cobbled together story but I suppose David couldn't just walk out on Carol again!

I like that they are showing the psychological effects of cancer.

Lindsey is brilliant and has shown this week that she's got it all.

This. I admit the Kirkwood/Newman era wasn't the best, but there were quite a few gems, such as "Into the Woods" and the teenage caravan holiday. Non-depressing entertaining storylines and brought characters together. Everyone family is in their own little world with DTC most of the time.

Me too. That's similar to how I was and was my first thought.

How old is Carol? Some go through it early like me or some after they are 60 like my sisters.
