As a diehard EE fan it hasnt been easy to admit ever since liveweek the show has been pretty patethic i mean cmon the plotlines writing etc atm is a disgrace. It feels as thougj at the time of filming these weeks they were so focused on preparing for liveweek they just neglected these episodes. I mean where is half of the cast ?
I can only hope this will improve not a great way of maintaining some of the liveweek viewers now in fairness. |

what you have to realise is the ordinary episode's (which lets face are the bread and butter of a soap) is much better under DTC than under Lorriane Newman. You can't have the quliaty of anniversary week over every episode and its as simple as that!

'ever since live week'.
You talk as though it was ten years ago. We've had a few quiet episodes after an immensely busy time for the show. Don't get ahead of yourself. |

I actually haven't mjnded the episodes this week, it feels like things are finally stabilising after love week. I wouldn't say the show is at a crisis point or anything though, we've had a few quiet episodes but the show isn't in dire straights, it can't always be non stop drama

His character may be a miserable shit but his presence livens up the show in my opinion. Tonight was dire. Why should I give a shit about the Cokers financial situation? Why is Carol being weird- actually I DONT CARE??! Why are Kush & Shabnam being secretive?? I mean- literally- WHY?? Its not as if her family will disapprove! Kat's story was the only thing of interest tonight but that doesnt excuse pitiful filler in between. These scenes were filmed around Christmas/early Jan so that partially explains the lull in cast members. |

I agree. Utterly lacking in dramatic tension for several weeks now.

I don't understand why Shabnam wants to keep their relationship under wraps either. Her brother and father aren't strict so why the cloak and dagger? It doesn't make sense. As for the recent episodes, one or two have been boring but mostly it's been OK, not as good as live week though.
I agree. There is absolutely no reason why she wants to keep him secret! |

The current episodes are focused on those who were avalible while the rest of the cast rehearsed for the live episodes. Bad the les stuff I've found these quite a nice break especially from mick and linda this week. Les is awful and has to go as soon as Paul arrives

I thought she was meant to be on some kind of downward spiral, getting out of control having her kids taken off her etc, but all I've seen is just a few drunken evenings in the pub, her getting into arguments with people that don't make sense as to why she would argue with them in the first place and having a half arsed social services visit, and now she's going to turn into mum of the year and "work hard for her family".So I hope that there is a lot more to come.... |

When a big storyline climaxes, soaps always become a bit quiet and sort of of plod on for a while. Anyone who watches the soaps religiously for several years should know this by now. So why the moaning. It's nothing unusual.

Also, I think most people on here can distinguish between the words "quiet" and "poor" or "dull". Just because we can't expect to have someone returning from the dead or a killer reveal every week doesn't mean we have to swallow sh*t in the majority of weeks inbetween. |

EE has been decent so far this week, Kat's story has been interesting and Pam's line about Les's battered sausage made me laugh.
However I do agree about Shabnam and Kush, it's their life so why the secrecy? And god only knows why Zoe has seemingly cut Kat out of her life. |

I'm just relieved this week hasn't focused on DTC's golden couple for once.
Kat and Carols' stories interest me, Nancy gets to interact with people outside of the family and hopefully Masood gets a storyline soon. The only thing I don't care for is the Les and Pam stuff. |

I enjoyed last week, esp Monday and Thursday but this week so far has been unbelievably dull, imo. But everyone is different and it just hasn't been my cup of tea. I have no interest in Liam/Cindy or the Kush/Shabnam merry go round.

Carol and Billy? give me a break!, anyway I will be avoiding it yet again until it gets a bit better, then I might try again.

I tend to follow particular characters in soaps and I am having a problem with Eastenders dropping characters for week on end. Even where the acting is fine, if I'm not engaged with the particular characters who feature, I can lose interest pretty quickly unless the writing is really good. For instance, I quite enjoyed the scenes between Carol and Billy because they were amusing. I bit like a comedy sketch. I couldn't really engage with Kat's story and, although I'm pleased they are exploring what lies behind her behaviour, it still doesn't make for particularly enjoyable viewing.
There are going to be some people who really like the characters who are featuring this week and are hopefully enjoying it but I find myself scouring the cast list waiting my favourites return. I am not sure how they can get round this problem entirely but blocking has been bad this last few months. The live episode and the unavailability of certain cast members probably has made it worse. |
