Ryan Hawley best newcomer?
He's been great as Robert Sugden in ED. I can't think of any other actors from any other soap that deserve it tbh

I hope so
But considering the last two winners of that award have been poor, the eventual winner is never as obvious as it appears. It seems a character can be one dimensional and barely have any part in storylines, and yet your popular and win awards. Much like Dexter and Nancy. I hope he wins it, but i have a feeling he won't. |

Ryan definitely deserves to win, he's been thrown in at the deep end with some really hard hitting stuff and he's pulled it off everytime.
It'll be a huge shame if he doesn't win. |

Ryan is a talented actor and plays Robert with sheer brilliance and versatility. Winning Best Newcomer at the BSAs would be great, but given last year's travesty, i.e. Maddy Hill winning and Charlie Clapham being nominated in a panel-voted category, I'd rather not get my hopes high.

I also like Oliver Farnworth in Corrie, but I think Ryan should win (going by what's happened so far)

He deserves it but technically hes not a newcomer because the characters been a mainstay for years. I know who the worst newcomer should go to - Charlie Cotton. He embodies everything thats miserable & unlikeable about Eastenders..

ye, theirs definitely depth to his character. I haven't seen the old robert sugden, all I know is this guy seems to be doin a decent potrayal of him. I'm not sure if recurrin characters count as 'newcomers' though?

I think he deserves to win it and would be disappointed if he doesn't. Ryan's a great actor and has been playing Robert brilliantly. I can't think of anyone else who deserves to win it.
I don't really remember too much about Karl playing Robert but Ryan has made me fall in love with the character. I hope he sticks around for a long time. But like others have said, I have a feeling he won't win it cause sometimes those who really deserve to win don't unfortunately. |

Actually Jacqueline Jossa won best newcomer a few years ago and she was a recast from the original Lauren. It's not the character who wins Best newcomer. It's the actor.

I have a feeling that Ryan could feature in the final 4 nominations. |

I hope he does. He has come along, taken over a big role from ED's past and been thrown into some major storylines and done a fantastic job.
![]() I was a big admirer of Karl Davies when he played Robert so my praise is not easily won, but Ryan more than deserves it. He's managed to make Robert his own while still reminding me of his previous incarnation, which from re-casts of soaps past is kind of rare. The change is usually be so jarring they feel like different characters entirely (see Martin Fowler atm) |

YES! Yes, yes yes.
He won't win it, because ED never do, but YES PLEASE.He's been so good, it was so tough coming in when people still remember Karl Davies, and he has been just brilliant. Massive fun to watch, totally committed. That was a yes from me. Can you tell?

I'd much prefer Gillian Kearney to win. Ryan's great but is lacking certain qualities IMO.

I would love to see Ryan win the best newcomer award
Playing a re casted character can't be easy but in a short period of time he has made the part of Robert his own.

I think Ryan Hawley deserves it, he is a good actor and has been superb as Robert, making him a really interesting, multi-layered and complex character.

I think he's brilliant. I totally forget that someone else has played Robert when I watch him.
