Can anyone tell me what the point of this is? If I had my own dressing room I wouldn't want someone else's name on it.

And surely if that was the case Corrie would have line upon line of dead peoples names on doors. I think this is unfair in a way.

If they are happy with it, why should it bother you ?
They want to remember the lovely lady who died - nowt wrong with that in my book.

What about all the other long time actors and actresses who starred in the show?
Why just Anne?

Exactly, it is a nice way for them to honour and remember there friend and work colleague. In my opinion it is a nice way to honour the impact Anne Kirkbride and Diedrie had on Coronation Street.

Perhaps they were not so universally loved by the cast and crew.

Anne seemed to be extremely popular both with colleagues and public alike.

I find that hard to believe.

Didn't they have dressing rooms on the old set then?
They could have transferred any old name plates to the new studios.

Maybe because they all knew her personally and can have a better judgement of the way they want to respect, remember and honour her?

It doesn't concern you.

I have no problem with Anne's name plate staying on the door, but I do wonder why this has not been done for nobody else of long standing.

If I upset some of the daft PC brigade by saying this, big deal!

It's clearly something done by the Corrie team privately, so why are we questioning it? It really doesn't concern us at all.

The same will probably happen to William Roache too.

Corrie IS the Barlow family really as they have been there from day 1.

It's probably the cast that wanted the nameplate to stay.

I agree. their fame shouldn't come into the equation, everyone who has died deserves respect, Anne shouldn't get special treatment.

It's a new studio so maybe they are starting a new tradition.

Same here. I think it's a lovely gesture on the part of the production team - shows how much she was loved and respected (I still can't quite believe Deirdre's not going to be there anymore...), but there's a little part of me thinking why they never did this for any other departed cast member.

With regards to any of the others were they actually still current cast when they passed away? I wouldnt have thought so. I cant think offhand of anyone in Corrie apart from Anne who has died while still being current cast therefore they would not have a dressing room anymore for the name to remain on. While yes it would be nice to remember the past legends its different in that this was a current cast member with a current dressing room and well times and traditions change as years go by now it is more common to want to remember people more publicly than previously and this may be the start of a new tradition.

I reckon that it was Beverly Callard who had the idea as she was her best friend and has moved into her dressing room.
