Among all the soap anniversaries, Doctors is soon to have its 15th anniversary
Eastenders just had their 30th, Neighbours is soon to celebrate 30 years and Hollyoaks its 20th later in 2015.
But among all of them, BBC's underrated daytime soap Doctors is about mark its 15th year on air. 27 March 2000 was its first episode. IMO it fills a pretty good niche in the market as one of the quieter/less publicised soaps. It's not a prime time soap yet it has brought in some pretty consistent ratings. My favourite characters over the years have been Jimmi Clay, Julia Parsons, Greg Robinson, Faith Walker, Donna Palmer and Nick West. Watched it mostly it between 2003-07 or so. While it won't be celebrated so heavily, Doctors has been really consistent for so long and has shown it has lasting power. |

They likely won't celebrate their 15th Birthday that much and I think they will mark their 3,000th episode later this year in a bigger way. Same as they did with the 1,000th and 2,000th episodes with the Gas explosion/real time and the illness plot with the Helicopter stunt. |

I've watched this series on and off since its beginning! Lovely afternoon serial - I am surprised that the BBC didn't promote it to a later slot in the schedules. It has a regular rating of 1m viewers - not bad for 1.30pm!! To me it is a similar variation of Crossroads!
