When Donna Mills decided to leave the role of Knots Landing's villainess extraordinaire Abby Cuhnningham, the show had a huge gap to fill and they brought in Paige's mother Anne, Linda Fairgate and Sumner's sister Claudia as the new female antagonists.

Emmerdale is clearly doing the same thing with Charity, they have brought in Emma, Tracy and now Carly as the village's new vixens to fill the gap left by the HBIC. Its really shows how important Charity is to the show that they felt it would take 3 different characters to fill the temporary void her exit has created.

10 months until her return!!! I cannot wait!

I hope Rachel's still around so she can absolutely destroy her again and show Sam up for the fool he is by taking her back; desperate, desperate man. Then I want her to screw Jai for every penny he is worth and run him out of the village. Batter Megan, a good ol' punch to her face should do it, which results in Megan leaving, too. Finally, take Cain from Moira, then laugh in both of their faces after she's destroyed their marriage, telling Cain she doesn't actually want him, she just didn't want that stuck up cow to have him. Moira leaves with James.

LOL I agree with everything you said, I'd also like to see her handle her temporary replacements, regain her wealth and lord it over everyone in the village!

Yes! Let's not forget Ali, smirking as Charity got sent down, the vile bitch Charity buys the house Ali's renting and makes her homeless, forcing her to do one, too.

Charity absolutely runs that village when she's there, and anyone who doesn't worship her should simply be disposed of!

YES!!!!!!!! Charity is the HBIC and all in the village need to recognize this and bow down at her excellence! I would like to see her do a Revenge or Kill Bill style story where she get back at everyone who has wronged her and for the finale she will find Declan and take him out!

I'm in the minority here but I have to say that I don't miss Charity one jot. I got sick of her always winning and coming out on top regardless of what she did or who she hurt in the process.

2014 was 'The Year of Charity' I don't think she was off screen for more than a week at a time IMO the character needed rested big time and tbh I'm enjoying seeing some of the other characters getting some decent screen time for a change.

Just my opinion folks

I agree! I do like her in so much as she adds plenty of spice to the show and I think she's played by a good actress but I definitely had Charity overload last year and needed a break lol.

Going slightly further back into the 80's, they did this too when superbitch Pat the Rat left Aussie soap and ITV daytime stalwart Sons and Daughters. Pat fled to Rio and in came Caroline, Leigh and Karen. They weren't a patch on the original queen bee and either left or were declawed in order to make way for Pat's return albeit with a new face and under the guise of Alison Carr.

I'm not a big fan of when shows do this. It's like they put a casting call out for a "Charity type character". Corrie did this for years as they tried to recapture the glory days of Elsie Tanner and Ena Sharples. I remember a period from the 90's up to the 00's where every new female character from Geena to Bobbi to Kelly was described in the press blurb as being " feisty" and a "firebrand". It was like they were basically saying " remember all those classic characters from yesteryear? Well here's someone who's gonna be just like that".

Charity is a great bitch and her absence is felt on Emmerdale but she isn't a patch on Donna Mills as Abby Fairgate she was superb, in fact i wish she would of joined Dallas after she left Knots Landing imagine her and JR Ewing going toe to toe would of been brilliant a shame we only saw a brief glimpse of the 2 of them together on Knots Landing.

Charity has been way underused since her return, so a big year for her was definitely due!

If you think about it, her presence probably wasn't suppose to be so big last year - her 'main' storyline was already running before the actress got pregnant, so I'm guessing they just decided to throw everything at Charity at that point to give her a good exit.

I'll be very surprised to see her come back and dominate in the same way again - it'll be back to being a background character, with her tedious relationship with Cain going round in circles

Is that Megan who's son died and who lost her brother thanks partly to Charity's misdeeds, Cain who stuck by her during her latest troubles and is now caring for her son, Moira who gave her a home against her better judgement and Rachel who was run out of town with a small baby vy her? Why should she be wreaking revenge on them?

I think Charity's fun to watch, but it woukx be so good to see a bit of depth to her. I rwally hope she doesn't come out of prison full of petty little schemes.

Whenever a character leaves, they always bring in another one slightly similar to fill the gap

I agree Donna Mills was great as Abby, I thought she was better than JR on Dallas and Alexis on Dynasty because she was more real and down to earth and they actually showed other sides to her like when she had to deal with Olivia's drug addiction. It would be cool to see Charity dealing with an issue like that, she has had very little positive impact on her daughter and grandkids.

Emmerdale is much less tedious and much more watchable now that Charity is gone.

The character needs to grow up now.

I for one do not miss Charity one little bit. You say last year she wasn't off the screen for more than a week at a time, it seems like she wasn't off our screens for YEARS. Overplayed, overacted and definitely overdone, If she comes back and it's all the same old garbage, getting her own back, illegal scams, gangsters, gold digging, because we all know Charity is irresistible to any man with or without a pulse, trying to get into Cain's head/pants, then I will switch off ED.

The show has been so much better without her domination over everything. The Dingles have mainly taken a back seat too instead of being in each and every scene or s/l. Debbie is so much better now she has gone and some of the other cast can get a look in. Imagine how she would react to some of the s/ls now current, Alicia, Val, Aaron and now Vanessa. She would just sneer and say something completely inappropriate. She is the Toxic Tracy Barlow of the Dales, horrid character.

Charity was featured a lot but she deserved it, she is the show's main villain and deserves to be in the spotlight and you know deep down you love some Charity

That reminds me of a line Abby on Knots Landing said to Paige. She said " You know Paige you're good, If I were rating you on the Abby scale, Abby being a 10, I'd give you a 6 given your youth and inexperience."

I could see Charity saying something like that to Carly.

She was certainly better than Alexsis that is for sure not even a contest in my eyes and she was certainly there or there about's with JR Ewing, i can't say she was better than him as i loved Larry Hagman as JR but i can understand why you put Abby above JR. Also agree she was wonderful in Olivia's drug addiction, it was exactly how a loving parent would react if there Child was addicted to drugs or Alcohol, Knots landing and all the actors involved played that storyline to perfection. Whatever you say about Abby she truly loved her kids. I always thought it was funny how Abby was 'St.Sid's sister, you couldn't of had 2 different people personality wise as brother and sister if you tried
