Is there any network which you can get 4G on payg? Just need it every so often when I'm a 4g coverage area, don't want to pay monthly just top up every few months and use it when I need it. Looks like the networks want you to pay all the time.

It depends entirely on what companies are doing 4G in that area you want it.

So first find out which companies have 4G in that area and then pick one of those.

EE is your best bet as they have most 4G coverage but Three have better "As Much As You Can Eat" data for £15 as and when you want it. - However, if Three hasn't covered that area with a 4G signal yet, it's no point. (Also don't take any companies word for it that they will be covering that area next week: It's all bollocks!)

Three, EE and Vodafone all do 4G on PAYG - although on Vodafone you might need a higher add-on that enables 4G or you'll be limited to 3G.

EE is 4G as standard, but you have single and double speed. Three has 4G at no extra cost on a standard 321 PAYG tariff, or if you buy add-ons.

I assume O2 has something similar but haven't looked.

Then there are some MVNOs that offer 4G.

Tesco, Lyca, Giffgaff and GT Mobile (all on O2) offer 4G.

Can you just get your account enabled or do you need a new SIM?

Devon hasn't really set up an MVNO (yet) .

What network are you referring to?

Yeah, sorry, it's a running joke on here.
I should have had 4G last year.... still waiting.
However I could set up my own MVNO and then be the only subscriber..
Hmmmmm.........

Any network, I'm on O2 but you need a 4G SIM so say, can't it just be an account upgrade like Vodafone you could have 3G with a 2G SIM but with Orange you needed a 3G SIM.
