Soap characters who need a good axing
Here we suggest soap characters who either add nothing to their programme, or are well past their sell-by date. My suggestions in no particular order:
1. Nancy (Eastenders) Does nothing except constantly look puzzled and bemused. The lass appears barely able to move her facial muscles and ends up having the same quizzical expression in every scene. 2. The bloke shagging Vanessa (Emmerdale) One of the worst actors I have ever seen in soapland. Clearly cast only to appeal to female viewers 3. Kat Slater (Eastenders) You name it, it's done Kat Slater. Seen more action than the Walford ticket barriers and has become a nasty, mean serial cheat. No more mileage for this old trollop; time to leave for good on that trusty milkfloat. 4. Val Pollard (Emmerdale) Just a mean-spirited, sexually insatiable old lush. HIV backstory will probably keep her in the soap for some time, though. 5. Faye Windass (Coronation Street) Not a great child actress it has to be said. Good at getting stroppy and that's about it. Another character saved temporarily by a big storyline. |

I agree with all except for Kat Slater.
Why on earth would you want to axe an interesting, iconic character, over two damp squibs like Les and Pam? |

EE - Lola Pearce
Lola's presence as family for Billy is her only saving grace. She's a whiny, shrieky, one-trick pony of a character played by a weak actress. Also: I don't care if we ever find out anything about her mother. I don't mind seeing Les and Pam, as I kind of like the macabre humor they bring. That said, seeing them once or twice a month is plenty. |

Kat's just becoming a caricature - even as far as soapland goes her repeated mistakes are becoming tiresome to watch. In my opinion, she has been milked dry. During the live shows they could do nothing wih her character except have her drunk the whole time. Enough.
I do agree however that Les and Pam are fist-chewingly dull. |

EastEnders, narrow the Carter family down to Mick, Linda, Shirley, Lee and Johnny, and either get rid of Cora, or bring back Tanya and Rainie alongside Lauren. Show could also do with a cast clearout of about 4-5 people.
Hollyoaks needs a major cast clearout. I'm sure Bryan Kirkwood will deal with this in his own special way - a stunt. Emmerdale is fine - the cast is the strongest of any soap right now. |

![]() That said, if I could swing the halberd over any CS character it would still have to be Faye. |

The Nazirs are surely some kind of twisted tribute act to the Ferreiras.

Apologies if this is repetition, I only registered a few days ago and couldn't see any actual recent threads of this kind in the search. I don't doubt that this has been asked before.
