Ordinary episodes (Filler) can be awful under DTC and there the worst ordinary episodes the soap has ever had IMO. Tonight's episode proved this! What an awful hour of soap. Awful!

You only have to look back to 2001 to see what a normal episode should be like...

We all spend a lot of time moaning about how had ordinary episodes can be, so how would YOU like them and what would YOU do to improve them?.

Does something incredibly interesting happen every day for you or anybody?

There's no such thing as an ordinary episode.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see EastEnders in the thread title. Ignore.

Did I say incredibly interesting? Tonight's EastEnders was shocking! Plenty agree.

What about Corrie then? That's a soap & I don't expect drama from it.

Have a little bit of continuity. EastEnders has three types of episodes;
+ Filler episode
+ Carter episode
+ The odd gem (last appearance - New Years Day)

Why not merge all three? It's as if half the cast are contracted to never set foot in an episode which has Mick and Linda in.

How about a simple method like Emmerdale and Corrie do? Have a few popular characters putting the world to rights in the corner of the pub/cafe and discussing whatever and making us laugh! Nothing to do with any major storylines whatsoever!
But it is entertaining all the same! EE need to learn a few lessons from its elder soaps!

Yes!

Sadly in EE there's too much going on. There's no time for quick harmless conversation behind the counter as everyone's got their own dramas now.

Put some effort into the lesser used characters for a start. How are such episodes meant to be interesting when DTC clearly has his favourites on the show and neglects the others?

That said some of them like Donna are naff regardless of how much time (or not) she gets. Likewise despite the Carters in the spotlight, I find Lee a boring spare part.

EE do have issue with their filler episodes on average they are rather dull and disjointed because they normally use characters we haven't seen in months or are rarely use which leads to the problem of it being crap and not making much sense half the time.

Totally agree!! Tonight's episode had no light-hearted funny moments which really would have lifted the whole episode from being the bore-fest it was.

Agreed but the last odd gem was Peter and Lauren's exit imo :P
