For all you soap addicts out there, here is another one for your collection As of this week and for the first time ever, RTE1's Fair City, which has been on air since 1989, is available outside of Ireland on their website. The show goes out four nights a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday) at 8pm and is timed not to clash with either EE or Corrie. Viewers outside of Ireland can watch the live stream every evening at www.rte.ie/live or catch up with the episodes on RTE Player.

Here is last night's episode : http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/10386231/

Good. Something to do if I haven't got needles to stick in my eyes. Cheers for the heads up.

Well.....even the UK soaps have been taking a lot of flak in the last year or two for the same reasons that Fair City might be doing (have a look around the forum), so if people are watching those, they'll probably get some enjoyment out of this one. It's ratings on RTE1 have been doing surprisingly well for the last few months too.

Why has it never been available to the rest of the UK?

I suspect it may have been something to do with issues of copyright and fees. Even viewers in Northern Ireland have never been allowed to watch it online, never mind in Great Britain. Perhaps too RTE have had requests from the Irish diaspora around the world to make it available online.
