I'd go or something in darker blue or green. Your best bet is to try a department store like John Lewis or Debenhams rather than Superdrug. Lancôme has make up suitable for older people.

If you're looking for coloured eyeliners then MAC have a wide range of colours and types of pencil - some waterproof, some aimed at softer smudging and blending. They also do gel liners for the upper lids which can work in place of eyeshadow if you find your lids start to become "crepe-y".

My favourite is Lancôme Hypnose Waterproof mascara, but it only comes in black. I have tried loads of others but always return to Lancôme as it is the only one that I have found that does not run down my face if my eyes water. (Benefit They're Real being the worst offender in my experience although some say it is wonderful).

I'm way over 50..68 and I use eye shadow not liner applied with a fine brush. I use Bobbi Brown, dark grey from a set of neutral shades. And as recommended by the very young ladies in John Lewis, you can dampen the brush for a stronger look. Though I keep it dry for everyday I find this more subtle and suitable for these old lids.
I'm sure there's suitable blues and greens..in fact far more in shadows.

Eye shadow, more subtle not eyeliner, too "solid" for me (70).

Lisa Eldridge's tips tend to be safe bets - the transformation on that woman was incredible, and it looked so fresh and natural.
