picture messaging

Hello. I have a Galaxy Ace 2 years old. When I send and receive picture messages it automatically turns data on does what's needed then turns it off. My partners Galaxy young or my mums HTC will not receive picture messages unless data is constantly active. I have been to local tesco and spoke to them, disappointed that he states this is the case for all the latest phones.

It seems a backwards step. Does any person know of a phone which will act like my Galaxy Ace.

Not sure but do u get pic msgs free ?
otherwise I wouldn't use them personally. It seems outdated to pay for these rather than Whatsapp or viber

I always email photos, no point paying for picture messages.
