Noise in speakers

hi,
got a small saisho music centre,
two cassette ... record deck... radio etc.

Everythings ok radio.... the tapes play ok etc
until I try to record from tape to tape

I play the tape then press play record on the other cassette

Immed there is a very loud hum in the speakers

recording from radio is ok, its just when I try to record from the tape

Could be anything, from faulty record/play heads, to a dry joint on the circuit board, or worse.

have you tried cleaning the heads of the suspect tape mechanism?

its such a loud trumpet like noise, it must be something internal

strange that everything else is working fine.. even recoring from the radio,

but as soon as I try to record tape to tape, all hell breaks loose !
