I haven't watched Neighbours for years but I did watch it in the early days from the first episode till the late 90s so I'm interested in this programme. I wonder why it's on so late though - I think it would have been better at say 8.00/8.30. I'll record it and watch it after Emmerdale on Thursday

They're also showing the first ever episode, will have to give that a watch. Shame it's on so late though.

Finally we get to see what Paul Keane (Des Clarke) looks like nowadays - some 25 years after he last appeared on TV.

Slightly disappointed at the lack of old clips and the way key characters don't even get a mention like Jim Robinson, Shane Ramsay, Eliene Clarke, Todd and Katie Landers, Melanie Pearson, Annalise Hartman, the Willis Family etc.

They can't include everyone and as someone who hasn't watched Neoghbours in about 5 years I thought it was really good with plenty of old clips for long term viewers |

Twitter has been much more fun and memorable than this thread.
For a soap forum Neighbours after 30 years deserves better. |

Enjoying watching the first episode. Anyone think c5 should start showing neighbours from the beginning in a late night slot?

I have never watched an episode of Neighbours in my life. In Ireland, where H&A was and is one of the biggest shows, Neighbours never really took off. However, when flicking channels tonight, I saw Kylie on the documentary and tuned in, I was hooked and I ended up watching Scott and Charlenes wedding and the first episode as well. Great way to celebrate.
I also love how the Minogue sisters, as famous as they are, are very humble and really appreciate where they came from. Melissa George - take note!!!! |

As others have said I don't watch anymore but watched for a long time I tuned in. Quite interesting, not as many clips of characters I liked but they didn't have that long I guess. It's a shame Karl and/or Susan didn't present the show with Paul, but I know why they did it.

Strange that they didn't mention Alan Dale at all in the section on actors who made it outside of Neighbours. He's never off American tv.

This evening was a trip down memory lane. I stopped watching Neighbours just after Madge died, so I did not know too many of the younger cast members that were interviewed. Good to see some of the 'oldies' Plain Jane still looks fab! Des looked very different. I had totally forgotten about Max and Maria Ramsay. Max was a right old misery. I had also forgotten that Scott was played by a different actor in the very early episodes. Quote:

I'd definitely watch it if they started it from the beginning. |

The Channel 7 episodes are fantastic. I've got the first 5 months or so on dvd but unfortunately the 3rd volume has only been released in Australia and is really expensive. But the episodes I have got i've really enjoyed rewatching over the past few months. I know many would consider it sacrilege but I prefer Darius Perkins as Scott, always did and Paul is still nice! I was disappointed they didn't talk about those at all but perhaps inevitable that the concentrated on 86-89 having secured Minogue, Donovan and Pearce interviews.
My favourite ever documentary was the one Channel 10 did for the 5th Anniversary which was never shown over here but luckily a friend of mine was on holiday in Australia at the time so recorded it *nd brought it home to show us, as well as episodes which back then we're a good year in advance so a huge treat. |

Mel was both interviewed and mentioned with a clip of her marrying Joe. Terence Donovan who played Doug was also interviewed.
They can't include everyone and as someone who hasn't watched Neoghbours in about 5 years I thought it was really good with plenty of old clips for long term viewers On another note it was good of Craig McLachlan to wear the dungarees over the topless body look that he was famous for. He's nearly 50 but he's still got it. |

Love to see Paul Keane (Des) and Anne Scott-Pendlebury (Hilary) back in the show as recurring characters.
