.... forget all the political arguments and raise a glass to an understated but talented musician.

I think there is a danger that the thread will be moved.....
But before that happens...may I just say that Fraser was very talented indeed and made great use of the bass version of the legendary Gibson Sg, ( )

(Ah....Thread has moved)

Read the news this morning and was shocked.

I saw Free back in the 70's, in a memorable gig at Oxford. One of those nights when even the band twigged they were on fire and kept pushing it even further, Brilliant stuff. I thought then, and still think now, that they were one of the best bands ever to come out of the UK. Every band member played their part and with his inventive bass playing and piano accompaniment, Fraser was no exception. I remember watching him being pretty much rooted to the spot, constantly bending backwards and forwards from the waist, while Rodgers and Kossoff prowled round the stage like panthers. As a songwriter he and Rodgers wrote some wonderful stuff together - I'm especially thinking of the Fire and Water / Highway (massively underrated IMHO) period. Songs which still sound great today. The proof? I'm still playing them over 40 years later...

RIP. And thanks.

It was worth a shot, after all the title of the board is 'Politics and current affairs'.
