There's a Nando's opening close to us soon and I was wondering how spicy the chicken described as 'Plain' is?

It says it's marinated in the sauce so presumably it has some heat?

I don't mind it red-hot myself, but my Mother would choke on it if it was spicy at all!

With 1 being a Korma and a 10 being a Vindaloo, about how hot is it?

First time I went I had a non-spicy chicken done in lemon and herb - quite nice and definitely suitable for mums. The mildest spicy one is pretty mild too - just abit above korma whilst the medium is about a madras heat. I've not tried the very hot one though.

The kids one is a bit like a bbq flavour. I dont know if its as hot as mild though. My daughter found mild a little hot when she was younger.

You could ask for no sauce or maybe even ask to taste the sauce before.

The hot one is hot but so tasty. The extra hot is the same heat as hot but they baste it underneath also so it is all coated in sauce. How hot it is depends on the cook and how much sauce they put on.

Love Nandos!!

You don't HAVE to have a marinade if you don't want to
If you do, both Lemon and Herb &/Mango & Lime are both acceptably mild.

The kids chicken is "plain" I think. It's not completely plain as they cook it all on the same grill as the marinated chicken so expect some flavour but it shouldn't blow your head off

According to the menu ALL the chicken is marinated, it's the sauces which are optional.

Nandos was the worst dining experience I've ever had. Slow service, poorly explained, dreadful food.

I won't be back there

How utterly fascinating...

Anyway back on topic, using your scale I'd say about 0.5 for lemon and herb or mango and lime. (6 for xtra xtra hot)

It is peri peri sauce. The wings roulette is fab. Ten wings ranging from mild to extra hot but you don't know which is which.

I tried some of the lemon and herb once and a hotter one, I think it has a bit of spicy flavour but it wont blow your head off (I'm not a big spice person)

Nope, Most of the stuff they sell I do not like anyway and you only have to look on the menu and you see most of it is the same thing, we got another one opening soon as if we need another resturant, something called West wood.
