EE: A round of applause for Daran Little!
Superbly written episode! This past month has shown how god-awful EastEnders can be, but Daran manage to turn that around. Its a shame he only writes a few episodes a year, because it's really great when he does.
A few points. | I've despised Tina and Sonia for a while now, but I really see something bubbling away there. | I've regained some of my love for Babe and Cora. That face-off they had was punchy. A good bit of history from Stan, Babe and Cora. That's always nice. | Andrew Sachs as Cyril Bishop had me laughing out loud! Even the death scene ![]() | Rudolph Walker is very talented and the little bits we get to see of his portrayal of a recovering stroke victim are really authentic and affecting. It's a shame EastEnders don't respect Rudolph Walker as much as some of the other actors. A great episode all round. More of the same please! |

I loved tonight's episode too. Character-driven drama that I really cared about.

He wrote the most episodes out of any other writer last year.

Best episode of the last few weeks. I prefer watching Stan over Mick, Linda and Shirley. His scenes with Cora and Babe were fantastic. And the hard exterior of Babe crumbling like that was so good.
Poor Cyril though. We only just got to know him. Lovely guy, he was like the perfect grandparent. |

He's so good that I'm a bit worried that his old employer Corrie might be tempted to poach him!

He's a very good writer, it's a shame he's mostly just used for Carter-centric episodes. Having said that I do love Stan and have always felt it's his generation of the Carter's that provides the family with anything interesting or of any real substance. He'll be a huge loss to the Carters. |

He used to write for Corrie and I think he's probably their best candidate. I hope he doesn't leave EE though lol

Yes and he also wrote the screenplay for The Road to Coronation Street; he's a huge Corrie fan first and foremost.

I think he was the archivist for Corrie at one point as well. I certainly think he has the potential to reinvigorate Corrie in the same way as DTC has with EastEnders

I share your feeling but I wonder If the BBC would consider Darkness as their next ep for EastEnders and signal this to him privately soon?

That was very good. He really made me care about a bunch of horrible old reprobates.
The older Carters really put the younger ones in the shade.

Tonight's episode made a change and I'm sure older viewers in their 60s and up enjoyed it. Babe is very well acted, the character is so horrible! Her obsession with Stan all these years is so unhealthy.

Daran is part of DTC's team so I don't think he'll be going anywhere anytime soon, or at least I hope not anyway!

I don't notice the difference between writers but if Daran is going to write such incredible episodes as tonight's I might have to look out for his name more often because it was absolutely fantastic, my favourite episode of Eastenders since the anniversary week.
