Vodafone aim to bring 4G to 94% of population of Wales
Vodafone are aiming to bring 4G to 94% of population of Wales. Given the vast majority of the Welsh population is based in the South East this shouldn't be too much of a challenge even for them!

What would be more impressive would be if a network brought 3G to Betws-y-Coed

That's kind of a low figure when there is going be 95% population superfast fixed lines in Wales. It should be easier to get on 4G than using fixed lines.

Vodafone's map claims to have 3G coverage, EE and Three claim to have 'partial coverage' and O2 has 2G.
It may have changed, since I was there on Holiday last August, but back then there was nothing (3G) in the middle of the Town on EE or 3 nor at the Hotel I was staying in on the Outskirts.

Better Newport State of Mind
Daily Post North Wales article Vodafone have turned on Connahs Quay in addition to their other North Wales 4G mast which is near Hawarden. Their Open Sure Signal thing sounds a lot like something EE announced a few months ago but no idea if that's planned for anywhere in North Wales. EE 4G has started expanding very quickly here last few months. In and around Bangor almost, if not all, of the masts have been done so 4G works everywhere. Llanberis has been turned on, you can get 4G at the summit of Snowdon and some of the other peaks around there. I think Mold is now the biggest place without it, apart from Wrexham but I don't like it there anyway. |
