I still say to this day that there is no music like the 70's and challenge anyone to say different..................go on I dare ye!

It had total originality.............no special effects whatsoever.
What you heard is what you got!

I give you WAR as a tester......beat it go on....

I have no problem with the 70s being the best period for pop music, I've argued it elsewhere. A few tracks to support the idea...

Steely Dan - Do It Again ( genuinely sophisticated music with a touch of dark humour)
Doobie Bros - Long Train Running ( an harmonica solo!!!)
Stevie Wonder. - 'As' (A chord progression which seeks eternity)
Donna Summer - I feel Love ( where soul meets dance meets euro tech )
Genesis - 'I know what I like' (Progressive and eccentric)
Roxy Music - 'In every Dreamhome a Heartache' ( a metaphor for the ages)

But you could pick any number of pieces from the 70s or any decade and suggest how brilliant those works are.

The 70s were great, but so were the 90s and the 00s for me.

Van Morrison - You Don't Pull No Punches, But You Don't Push The River

and

70's were a second rate 60's

the 60's were by far superior ... you didnt have that ridiculous glam rock, the uber pretentious prog rock, the musically painful punk rock, the mindless disco, nor the complete crap that was sweet soul / philly.

in fact the only good things about the 70's was the heavily 60's influenced new wave

Al decades have music we don't enjoy but what makes them special is the music we love. If ten years can pass without us finding anything we enjoy then we're not really much of a music fan at all.

Its not so much about not finding anything to enjoy in a decade, but liking other material more from others.

Personally, the 70's is possibly my least favoured decade.
