For me there was loads going on in this episode.
1. Alison's mother in law's possible early onset Alzheimers after she left the bath running and caused a flood.. 2. The fact Alison took a pregnancy test but we don't know if she's pregnant or not as we never saw a close up of the test stick. If she's pregnant it's probably Cole's as he told her to stop taking the pill and she hasn't seen Noah for months. 3. Alison looking at her little boy's toybox. Ruth Wilson's performance was so moving here. Why the hell did mother in law take charge of it when it was Alison's to take? 4. Alison's grandmother's death and her awful mother leaving her to cope with the aftermath. 5. Horrid old Bruce's revelation that he too had an affair and thought about the girl every day. Also his vulnerability came through in this episode with his reliance on Noah to get him out of the chair because of his arthritis. 6. Helen and Noah's visit to the therapist with Helen revealing such a lot about their early relationship compared to now. So........not much at all really. ![]() |

Another piece of information that we got from that episode was that Alison was no longer with her husband in the future as she wasn't sat with him or the family during the memorial (I'm assuming?)
Also, I guess that the affair resumes at some point due to the cancelled booking at the hotel. |

I'm inclined to agree with Alison - the mother doesn't want to let the ranch go and is trying to sabotage the sale. 2. Yes I was trying to see what the stick said but couldn't. And I would agree that it would be Cole's child, as she and Noah hadn't seen each other for four months - and she was on the pill during that time. Cole said he wanted to try for another baby, so it's much more likely to be his. 3. Such a moving scene. I thought that the mother in law took charge of the box to be kind. When the brother showed it to Alison, she looked totally lost for words and as if she did not know what to say. So the mother in law was helping her out by making the decision for her. 4. Athena is awful - so incredibly self-absorbed and unwilling to see the truth. What was interesting about the two scenarios at the hospital was that in the past, although Noah and Alison's accounts have differed, the core things that happen are the same. In this, there was a big difference, i.e. that Athena and her partner were not even at the hospital in Noah's version. 5. Bruce is horrible, but I think his vulnerability made him more a sympathetic character in this episode. He is weak physically, and has admitted to what you might call a weakness emotionally too, which I cannot imagine him having done in earlier episodes. I think he does actually understand Noah, and were it not for the fact that it was Bruce's own daughter who Noah had cheated on, he might have been a lot more sympathetic towards his son in law. 6. I loved that scene. After the facade of happiness that Noah and Helen are trying to maintain which we saw in the earlier scene in the restaurant, it was good to see Helen let some of the pain out. I'm also interested in what is happening with Whitney. Is she bulimic, was she just not feeling well...might she be pregnant? |

Personally I think it was just part of th e storyline to allow Noah to go back to Montauk (sp?) alone. What I can't figure out is how far ahead the flash forwards are. They are presumably at least a year but may be more like 3. Any thoughts? |

Last night was fantastic! So excited for season finale next week.
So Scott died in an 'accident, then we find out this week that the cop is sniffing around Noah's car and Scott got noah's daughter pregnant. That's quite a motive! Very interesting re: pregnancy test as that was in both flashbacks but very different stories. Mummy Lockhart had me seething with her blaming Alison for not taking her boy to the hospital. I had never heard of secondary drowning before. Ruth Wilson earnt her awards in that scene at the doctors though. I am really intrigued to see what happens next week now that Noah has left his wife and Alison has left Cole but he followed her. |

I didn't quite get the ending last night.. So Noah left Helen and went to meet Alison in montauk, but what happened when he got there? Was Alison leaving Cole? Did she know he was there? Why did she get on the train that arrived in Montauk?

Plus I think there's a fair old chance that Oscar is the father of her child!!!
Still so much to find out in the finale but I bet they'll leave us hanging for a second series!!! Who's wedding is it that Scotty gets killed at??? |

Maybe I reading little too into it, but I did think the whole mix up over the pregnancy test was a bit of a nod to Noah teaching his class about Romeo and Juliet - there it was the mistakes of the adults that thwarted the young lovers, with mixed up messages and delays, here it was the young's mistake (Whitney' pregnancy) that twarted the adult's love through misunderstanding.

Another episode where the first half was from Alison's perspective rather than Noah's.

Ok i've just binge watched the first 9 episodes in the last few days and i LOVE it. It is so much better than i thought it was going to be. Mainly watched for Ruth, she is amazing, just looking at her, she shows so much emotion.
I feel for Alison, and she is the one I'm most interested in. I'm not keen on Noah when he is with Alison, he seems desperate and needy, but i like him when he is with his family. I'm rooting for him then because his family are AWFUL. Helen is unbearable, a nag and a know it all who puts him down all the time. The daughter is dreadful too and Noah seems to be the only one who disciplines his awful kids, Helen is too wet. But i can quite see why he'd want out and to be with Alison, with that family to contend to! I don't see Alison as a bad guy in this, or Cole. I find these 2 more likeable than Noah and Helen. They have suffered real tragedy and are obviously still coming through it. I cannot wait for the finale! |

I was a bit disappointed if I'm honest. I know they're gearing up for season 2 but I felt like there was just too many loose ends left open. It almost felt like a cliffhanger for the next episode, rather than giving us a couple of answers, just enough to go 'Aah, that makes sense!' But not too much that we don't watch Season 2.
Or maybe I loved the series so much I don't want to wait for Season 2 to find out?!?! |

I gave up watching after four episodes. The style was interesting but subject was tedious and indulgent. Its a pity because i loved first two seasons of In Treatment.

I loathed that Helen seemed to have forgiven him in return for five minutes of anal sex.
Shallow in the extreme. |

I was a bit disappointed too. I knew that there is a second series but I still would have liked a more definitive ending - to know whether or not Noah did kill Scotty or not, and if so, was it deliberate? I'd also like to know how far in the future the flash forwards are...we know that Alison and Noah are together officially now and there is a child, but we still don't know how much time has passed between 'now' and the events of the last episode.

Quality drama but not altogether enjoyable, it was hard going at times and often left me with the feeling of needing to scrub myself clean afterwards - testament to the acting chops of Wilson and West.
I didn't feel the ending justified the time (and shower gel) invested in it, as others have said, too many loose ends. Didn't realise a second series was on the cards - I'm not entirely convinced I'd want to watch it. For the record, I absolutely adored The Treatment. |

I loved it. From beginning to end, I was totally captivated by it. We binged watched it over the last few days and I cannot stop thinking about it.
Ruth Wilson's performance as the fragile, heartbroken, almost dead Alison has just completely floored me. That scene after she tells Noah about Gabriel and she asks him what he sees now when he looks at her. And the doctor's office. She was mesmerising. I didn't like her in Luther as her character annoyed me but, in this, she was perfect. The rest of the cast gave stellar performers too particularly Joshua Jackson as the equally heartbroken Cole. I thought it was beautifully written and really liked the way it was told from Noah and Alison's perspectives. And the subtle (and sometimes not so) differences in each. I almost feel it was about grief more than "the affair". I just loved it. Sigh. Already looking at hotels in Montauk for a little trip next year! 🙈 |

Did anyone notice in the flash forward a couple weeks ago when Alison was being questioned, she said "I have to go, I have to go pick up my kid" - could she be pregnant by Noah? That would certainly fill the next 3 eps! |
