For a lot of people I agree, however I used to work on a farm for years and have no issue in shooting or fishing for my food.

Nice that when the University Challenge Question was
about 'Agamemnon' 'According to Homer..' the thickie
Leeds girl asked her sister if that was Homer Simpson!
I used to cringe at the falling standards of education and
'General Knowledge' in this country. Now, I just shrug and
think, oh well, you get what you expect!

That's called Civilisation. I pump diesel and petrol from a handy nozzle into my cars, I don't feel I have to go out and source my own crude oil to feel at one with Gaia to self justify my use of it.

No Leon you are wrong ( again). Members of the SAS regiment do not have to keep their occupation or the regiment they serve in a secret .

Why is it strange?? Livestock animals are bred precisely for this purpose.
Without slaughter being the outcome they would not even have existed.

How we treat such animals while they are alive is, of course, very important and we should be attentive to their welfare. A well farmed beef cow will have had very nice conditions compared to a wild animal - nutrients, minerals, food, nice bedding, treatment for parasites/illness, veterinary care, no starvation, no predation etc etc.

Why should we feel ashamed about that?

It would only be unethical if the beef cow was self aware and was conscious of the reason it was being bred for. It doesn't.

Gogglebox really generally makes me cringe at how dim most of the people on it are. Is that the point of it or are we meant to agree with the people?

I mean normally I just laugh at them but I've watched it before with people who agree with everything they say. And I'm no Einstein but really...

I don't find it strange that you eat meat, I found it strange that you said you feel no remorse.

I agree about the Welsh couple - I find them rather dull, especially the woman who barely says anything. I also can't understand how the guy can bear lying in that very strange position with his neck unsupported - it looks incredibly uncomfortable.”

not as boring as giles and mary

If I felt remorse I wouldn't eat meat. Why would I do something by choice that I felt such deep regret or guilt for?

I think many of us spotted it as William Morris, Willow Bough.

A classic pattern.

I'm another who couldn't see the attraction in watching people watching TV, but I watched the first couple of episodes of this series and now I'm hooked!
There are only a couple of the households that I'm not so keen on as the others, but on the whole I think they're all really entertaining ( I love the two Sandra's, Leon and Scarlett so seems I might be in a minority here?!)
I'm wishing I'd watched from the start now

Hope Caroline Aherne is ok,, though.

I watched the first 2 episodes last night on More 4 or E4 ... So many families that didn't last long from back then.

I miss Steven and Michael - the two scouser friends. They were very quick and provided a more laddish perspective.

Also miss Audrey and Brenda - they were very nice.

Leeds sisters have got to be binned off, just playing stupid all the time and tell eachother really stupid, boring stories.

A very unfunny chav parody. They add absolutely nothing to the programme.

According to my friend who lives near her Caroline's cancer has returned. She is receiving treatment. All good wishes to her.
