I'm catching up with this week's episode now. I love this program.

The 2 Sandras are getting worse with each episode, we have also resorted to either muting or fast-forwarding through them every time they're onscreen
The...erm..."larger" of the two is so loud, I find her insufferable and was glad when she got electrocuted with the fly-zapper. Pity it didn't shut her up.

Yes Sandy is tedious. How dumb was that to touch the fly zapper having been told not to? Thereagain....

I was quite concerned to hear about what her fry up consisted of, i.e. a whole packet of bacon (because it shrivels to nothing!), 4 eggs and half a tin of beans! Is she really ignorant of what effect that would have, i.e. overdosing on saturated fats not to mention the salt overload from all that bacon? Even Sandra seemed surprised that she had a whole packet of bacon.

I guess to expect her to grill the bacon and poach the eggs would not appeal (or have half a packet and 2 eggs maybe)? I love my food but I wouldn't go that far. I guess this is a clear case of indulgence without heeding the long term impact to health. It is very short sighted and dumb.

A bit rich for Scarlett Moffat to insult The University Challenge team. She's just jealous of anyone smarter than her.

Not everyone's idea of fun is to go out to clubs and get drunk.

She should put down the bottle and pick up a book.

Continuation of: GoggleBox- Ch4
Not saying I agree with her, but what is it with people now who assume anybody is jealous if they think different?

Strange that the 3 boys get a 5 second clip every few weeks if they're lucky, the new family seen just once have disappeared and another couple made their debut

I would love to be there when they discuss who is to be included and excluded and why.

I agree about the two Sandra's I got sick of them last series. I would like to see less of them and less of June and Leon.
It's a shame they are sacrificing some of the better families for their screen time. Like I would want to see more of the Male Flatmates or the Tappers.

Also does anyone else get the feeling these new families are being set up to replace Steph and Dom? As it seems to me the two new families we have seen so far have been of the Upper class area.

Leon is like a Carry On character, will this old man just stop with sexual innuendos, it making me feel a bit sick!
He reminds me of Sid James.

I agree that it would be nice to see more of the three lads and the Tappers do seem to be featured less now than they used to be. The Malones have been a good (relatively) recent addition though.

Sandra and Sandy and Stephen and Chris seem to be the worst offenders for playing up to the camera.

I agree. He turns my stomach when he talks about getting his wife's knickers off

Stray thoughts:

- This is really Sandy and Sandra's series... they've had so much of a focus this time around. Last series it seemed to be someone else, though this time it's really, truly them. The problem is that whilst they have the very odd moment of hilarity, they then get loads of filler content that feels incredibly scripted.

- Scarlett is both ignorant and stupid. You can forgive stupidity, and kudos for getting through Uni and all (from what I've heard of her background, even finishing school is a commendable achievement) but her slating of the University Challenge contestants was just ignorance...not everyone enjoys a night out on the town...

-...on that note, her dad gave the best moment of the night when he accidentally agreed the hypnotist was 'fit'.

- Less of Steph and Dom yet again this series? Inclusion of new upper class or wannabe upper class people? Are they being phased out?

- Also less of the German family? And how depressed does the silent guy look now!

- Better range of shows this series, I'll admit. I got tired of the constant X Factor/I'm A Celeb/Strictly line-up from the series before.

- Really liking the Caravan Duo... best relative newbies in a while.

- Siddiqui's are as good as always, but the Malones are now my favourites. Both are enjoyable families to watch, and the Malone's come out with some real funny moments. I think these families feel the most genuine.

- Tapper's have gotten boring. Mum is still overly loud at times, Josh is constantly busy fiddling beneath his cushion, Dad is asleep half the time. Amy is quieter though, which is some small blessing

- Do those teen guys ever turn up for more than the odd moment? They've been around for a little while, and very little within that while.

___

As for Comic Relief, which people were discussing on the last thread, it always comes across as truly admirable to see these actors out there...actually doing what most can't, and seeing these problems in Africa for real with their own eyes. What is more effecting than the heroic Doctor Capaldi powerless against malaria?

Why do these countries still need help though? Well because millions of charitable pounds is putting a plaster on a gaping wound. Eventually a plaster needs replacing, and that's why the money is needed year on year. They tell you that these mosquito nets cost such-and-such, then don't tell you what that costs in terms of transport. How much of Comic Relief's money is designated to that specific cause, when in fact the charity covers all sorts of known illnesses, diseases, issues and so on - and not just limited to Africa. It even helps children here in the UK.

At the same time though I cannot support Comic Relief. It's true what people say and that's that a lot of money is lost through the trickle-down system that it utilises. How much is actually used by the BBC, how much is lost on its way to these people? Are these funds transferred to the Governments of countries that can be trusted? Or are they transferred into nations with severe issues of corruption?
On top of that, there are little reveals like these...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25273024
...which confirm my worst fears about Comic Relief. I'll more than happily donate to a charity whereby I know the proceeds will reach the people. If I was wealthier I'd consider it a unqiue holiday experience to take myself out there and do my bit in person. But trust these big national charities where the money is lost to third parties, Governments and ill-spending along the way? Not a chance.

Who are you to decide what is apt for somebody else's wedding?

Not happy with the the way 'Gogglebox' is going - may give CH4 a call to make a complaint.

They are paid, and they watch it all at once in one session.

If they were smoking on screen it would not look good.
According to the Mirror (yes, I know ), last year they were being paid a whopping.... £15 per night

"Geordie Goggleboxer Scarlett Moffat, 23, is quoted as saying the families only "get their leccy bill and takeaways" covered."

Edit: Don't see how that would be allowed as any more than 2 hours and that would be lower than the minimum wage.

You misunderstand. It's not about what is apt for THEIR wedding, but a disco at a wedding seems somehow debasing for a wedding ceremony - particularly in a church. I get that it is celebratory but why have that in a church rather than at the reception? I could understand it more at a registry office.

I have to say I was impressed by the selection of programmes viewed. Much more diverse.

That was exactly what I was thinking when I saw them. Interesting that for a new "family", they got quite a few appearances.

As others have said, slightly oddball / eccentric - yes. Maybe that's why I'm quite liking them so far.

I also agree that S&S are playing up far too much. What was with the French phrasebook SKETCH coming out of the last ad break? That (or the product (placement) review of the fly swatter) had nothing to the programme.

I shudder to think about what her heart looks like, but she is BIG. Wearing patterned outfits only accentuates her girth.

I think it plays to the newbies advantage that they were given the chance to appear in a few segments. They're not so well-established that you can see any camera-pandering (a la Sandy and Sandra) but there enough to make you notice them. They've left a bit more of an impression than the posh family from earlier in the series managed to leave, or indeed another posh couple from a series or two back who looked to be sat in an old pub, but appeared just the once as well.

I think the French thing was because they're visiting Paris soon... they've made a bit of a running 'joke' about Sandra's French capabilities. I remember they were going to visit Brighton last series too, and mentioned that for a couple of episodes.

This is true. You wonder why people want to do the show and this may be a reason why it is so difficult to get new families.

Seems to be the usual scared of commitment stance. Try out loads and see which the audience like before offering them a contract.

And way too much time wasted on 'arranged comedy' instead of showing people's genuine views on the TV programme.

She's a viewer who's viewed it on a YouTube post so why shouldn't any of us comment?
