Stray thoughts:
- This is really Sandy and Sandra's series... they've had so much of a focus this time around. Last series it seemed to be someone else, though this time it's really, truly them. The problem is that whilst they have the very odd moment of hilarity, they then get loads of filler content that feels incredibly scripted. - Scarlett is both ignorant and stupid. You can forgive stupidity, and kudos for getting through Uni and all (from what I've heard of her background, even finishing school is a commendable achievement) but her slating of the University Challenge contestants was just ignorance...not everyone enjoys a night out on the town... -...on that note, her dad gave the best moment of the night when he accidentally agreed the hypnotist was 'fit'. ![]() - Less of Steph and Dom yet again this series? Inclusion of new upper class or wannabe upper class people? Are they being phased out? - Also less of the German family? And how depressed does the silent guy look now! ![]() - Better range of shows this series, I'll admit. I got tired of the constant X Factor/I'm A Celeb/Strictly line-up from the series before. - Really liking the Caravan Duo... best relative newbies in a while. - Siddiqui's are as good as always, but the Malones are now my favourites. Both are enjoyable families to watch, and the Malone's come out with some real funny moments. I think these families feel the most genuine. - Tapper's have gotten boring. Mum is still overly loud at times, Josh is constantly busy fiddling beneath his cushion, Dad is asleep half the time. Amy is quieter though, which is some small blessing - Do those teen guys ever turn up for more than the odd moment? They've been around for a little while, and very little within that while. ___ As for Comic Relief, which people were discussing on the last thread, it always comes across as truly admirable to see these actors out there...actually doing what most can't, and seeing these problems in Africa for real with their own eyes. What is more effecting than the heroic Doctor Capaldi powerless against malaria? ![]() Why do these countries still need help though? Well because millions of charitable pounds is putting a plaster on a gaping wound. Eventually a plaster needs replacing, and that's why the money is needed year on year. They tell you that these mosquito nets cost such-and-such, then don't tell you what that costs in terms of transport. How much of Comic Relief's money is designated to that specific cause, when in fact the charity covers all sorts of known illnesses, diseases, issues and so on - and not just limited to Africa. It even helps children here in the UK. At the same time though I cannot support Comic Relief. It's true what people say and that's that a lot of money is lost through the trickle-down system that it utilises. How much is actually used by the BBC, how much is lost on its way to these people? Are these funds transferred to the Governments of countries that can be trusted? Or are they transferred into nations with severe issues of corruption? On top of that, there are little reveals like these... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25273024 ...which confirm my worst fears about Comic Relief. I'll more than happily donate to a charity whereby I know the proceeds will reach the people. If I was wealthier I'd consider it a unqiue holiday experience to take myself out there and do my bit in person. But trust these big national charities where the money is lost to third parties, Governments and ill-spending along the way? Not a chance. BIB I cannot stand that girl. It seems like if it's not her life you are living, being orange, thick and drunk .. you are not having a life. What a small minded person she is. If you watched her dad he has the look of STFU. She seems to feel the need to constantly talk. As for Jay, it is sad watching him having to stay quiet. The novelty has worn off for me. You can see he wants to laugh but the contract seems to ban him from that

Does anyone else think that Sandra and Sandy are given gadgets so as to comment on them, e.g. the fly zapper this week?
There were comments suggesting that some of them were "fed lines"/jokes. I started to notice it but then this seemed to fade away so not sure if the producers felt better of it. To "stage" reactions in this set up manner indicates desperation, i.e. that the formula cannot be relied upon to be up to standard. Well..Gogglebox WAS up to standard in the last series (hence the awards) i.e. before they axed some of its more popular families. |

Sandy and Sandra seem to act really surprised at the programs that are starting.

Are you saying they know what is coming? I think not because I have seen others wonder what the film is and then react when they see the title.

Just popping in to say that Mary and Giles are very boring and I can't imagine why they've been added.

Really liking the Malone family, particularly the Rooneyalike dad and his occasional gems, and the mum's the thoughts on the Red nose sketch was a real wtf moment!
The new lidl pair looked like they were trying too hard to be different. Much better than that posh family that appear to have been ditched though... |

A full pack of bacon, four eggs, half a tin of beans for breakfast and she has bad wind?
My gawd, she is a bit greedy!

It use seems really odd as I would think most people would have some kind of idea what was coming up via EPG or, like june, the TV guide

The Siddiquis are adorable. I'd marry any of them, even the dad, he has lovely twinkly eyes

Yeah those two need to be given the boot. They are not authentic or funny any more.
Anyone know how they film this show? Do they have a small crew at the properties and do they watch the shows in one sitting? I know they have fixed cameras but there is obviously studio lighting rigged up in the rooms and their must be some direction too. Would be interested to know. |

I read there are remote cameras, microphones and lighting put up in the room and a small crew are in another room of the house. I don't know how much filming they do at a time but can't imagine it would be most nights of the week as it would be too much hassle.

So for budget reasons it must be recorded in one day. Must be pretty hard core to sit through all those tv shows with studio lights in your face and cameras pointing at your face. If it were me they'd just have a tape of silence with the occasional trip to the loo and fridge.

I think she was angling more towards a bit of moderation, All work and no fun makes Jack a dull boy. She never said they should give up studies and become hardcore clubbers now did she?
Mind you I'm sure they have fun in the Uni bar over a swift half. But why should they have to? Just to prove they're not boring? I myself don't drink and I don't see what's wrong with being tea-total. I don't think that makes me a boring person, and if I have to accept the drinkers of society then tea-total people should also be accepted. The fact that tea-total people get dismissed as boring all the time by drinkers like that, proves that there is bigotry towards reserved people who don't like passing out in a gutter. |
