I had watched the Hipster documentary on BBC4.............it was strange seeing Peter York again.

He was always on telly 20 or 30 years ago as a social commentator on trends and 'sub-groups' of Society but I hadn't seen him in anything for years.

And there he was, grey haitr, stooping, shuffling around..............crikey he hasn't aged well..............

I'm sure there are are brain-storming sessions in TV production companies that have a section for "tear-jerkers / audience manipulation"

"We like the stutter guy, but does he have any recently deceased relatives that we can play on?"

What's happened to the crapulous "posh" couple?

Im really losing interest in GoogleBox now. Too many episodes, they should do eight episodes a year.

Plus it feels a lot more artificial than when it started.

If Channel 4 want it to survive, they should give it a break for a year and find some new families, keep a couple of the current ones.

Wish they'd get shot of them. They're tedious in the extreme. Made up to the nines for their little TV appearance. At least Giles and Mary don't make an effort! But poshos tend to be more natural.

It is the nature of reality TV that people become camera aware and so it inevitably loses its more natural reactions.

That said, the programme is still hugely popular e.g. it was crowned the 2016 winner of best Factual Entertainment at this year's National Television Awards!

It is still my fave programme!

Factual? How can a show about people giving their own opinions be factual?

It's a fact that it's entertaining!

Factual, rather than scripted or reality.

It is on too often, and it is getting quite repetitive. I keep watching as there really is not a lot else on at that time.

I'd like them to featue some different shows each week rather than XFactor/Strictly, and that bloody Poldark and Dating show. They hardly ever show the soaps for example.

It is what it is though, and for all its faults, I still quite enjoy it.

This has been bugging me since the previous episode. What breed is the brown-haired dog owned by the family in the Wirral? They also have a black one that looks a similar breed.

Still enjoying all the family units more than the friend+friend combos, although Jenny and Lee are still entertaining. I seem to watch the dogs pretending to be asleep more than the hairdressers whenever they are shown.

Agreed, you'd think this would be a very easy way to freshen the show up. They used to include soaps in the early series but there's loads of progs that could be included without relying on so much repetition.

My guess is that there are going for the most popular shows but they do include the more unusual ones too, e.g. Peter York's documentary on hipsters.

I watch it more for the viewers than the programmes so I don't mind too much.

If you mean the family with the dad who looks like an old Wayne Rooney they are Rotties. I believe most are rescue's dogs.

The new family? Looks like a Field Spaniel. Or maybe they are working Cocker Spaniels.

There's been a couple of times where I've watched Gogglebox and not watched any of the programmes they were covering that week.

I still enjoyed it though because like you say, it's more about the Goggleboxers' comments.

I thought he looked quite self conscious and ill at ease. When that guy in Brooklyn admired his overcoat he didn't know what to say for a moment!
