When I saw that, I started to think of the rhyme about the old woman who swallowed a fly. He'll have to keep getting bigger tatoos to cover the old ones and will end up completed covered in them.

At best it was mildly amusing”

That's because they were in the middle of watching an episode, following a plot in a situation and with character development not just a random clip out of context.

Has it been a hard week Prince M?? Xxx
I felt that some Goggleboxers had sour grapes about Scarlett's win and dismissed the series as not being of the usual standard. What I was trying to convey was that George, Lin and Pete weren't a part of that and were genuinely made up for her as she was when George did so well in CBB . Believe me, they are some of the most decent people you could ever wish to meet. Sleep well xx

I watched an episode of an older show last night where they were watching a show called Dangerman where this bloke put a live scorpion in his mouth.

Scarlett was disgusted and said .. "That's animal cruelty!" I hope she didn't eat any live bugs when she was in the jungle

"Welsh Rabbit is amusing and right. Welsh Rarebit is stupid and wrong."

Why does Scarlett act dumb?
She has a degree, won awards for ballroom dancing and been involved with other tv programmes.
Piers Morgan wrote in the Daily Mail that in her audition, she mistook Nelson Mandela for the man from Uncle Bens rice
On Gogglebox she sometimes shows her ignorance.
Does she do it to appear vulnerable, and to be liked?

There are book smarts and common sense often the two don't mix. I've worked with university graduates who couldn't turn on a light switch !

Scarlett is sweet natured and not calculated, as you are implying.

We all have gaps in our knowledge don't we? Give the lass a break, she has done magnificently well!

But she does come out with dumb comments in Gogglebox, hardly gaps in knowledge!

Indeed. A friend was talking about one of our mates and put it quite succinctly : "for someone who's so intelligent she can be bleeding thick!"

To be fair, there IS a similarity between Nelson Mandela and Uncle Ben - she was just asked to say who the celebrity was based on a photo.

Intelligence is measured in many ways. She can be quite sharp and she is quick witted which requires mental agility!

I hope she, and others who have done other tv shows don't come back to Gogglebox
Once they have been on these shows they are no longer just ordinary members of the public giving their views on TVs programmes- they are very minor z list celebrities
The joy of Gogglebox is that ordinary people say what they do and don't like and give comments in a uninhibited refreshing way, instead of saying something things in a certain way, to get a reaction
That said, Some of the other goggleboxers have been around too long, and have become too predictable, acting up for the camera too much, and need to be replaced with some new, fresh ones.

I agree with what you say here. There ARE some new faces but I guess you want a culling? Who should go then?

I would love the vacuous Leed sisters gone - also that Welsh couple...not irritating but they act zilch to the programme.
Tellystar

I wouldn't get rid of them all at once, but phase new families in gradually
First to go would be the German family, then Tappers and Michaels
Definitely the Welsh couple , two girls and the Malone's
I would miss them, but we'd soon get to know new ones
I admit a reluctance to get rid of June and Leon, the two hairdressers, and Giles and Mary, so perhaps they could make occasional guest appearances?
I don't miss Steph and Dom, and the two Sandra's, though I wonder why they still feature in the opening titles
Perhaps C 4 could have a vote about who to keep
I don't dislike any of them really, but they do get irritating a nd too predictable the longer they stay.
molliepops
11-12-2016
Unless they do something unforgivable I'd say keep them as long as possible, it takes a while for them to settle in and even longer to come to care what they say. I like a lot of them only ones I would be happy to see go are the sisters and that's me being judgemental not their fault.
Tellystar
11-12-2016
The longer they stay, the less spontaneous their comments
Often what they say is politically incorrect, and that adds to the fun.
If they think they have to say things in a certain way it is more "manufactured "
Oh, and I'd miss the Siddiquis!
Perhaps there is a way to retire them gradually over a long period of time, but it's important to retain that original freshness, and their opinions reflecting what we often think ourselves

Agree. It's been so nice without Dom and Steph not being on there for a start.

She is NOT acting thick! Did you read my post above # 8116 (with the link)?

Many 'celebrities' that go to the jungle are not that well known are they? Those that feature in reality programmes are considered eligible i.e. not her fault that she was asked! The lass done good! Fair play to her! She is lovely.
