An okay episode, to an okay series. As someone else said, if you go in not expecting much then it's still an alright, light-entertainment hour on a Friday night.
Wish there had been less Grand National coverage. I disapprove of it myself, though understand it's watched by the masses - featuring it makes logical sense, but a whole quarter of the episode dedicated to it was too much.
Not a problem with Gogglebox but I do find the broadcast of the SNP PPB in England to be somewhat redundant. It's readily available online for those who want to watch it, and the majority of Scots (i.e. those actually in Scotland) would be able to watch it on regional television. Only 1 in 13 people even have the option to vote for them anyway, how many of those 1 in 13 actually live outside of Scotland? The same can be said for Plaidd Cymru.
Game of Thrones is amazing and I'm glad to see it covered by Gogglebox (I suspected it would be after they aired another Sky Atlantic show the other week) but it seemed a bit pointless for them to show it to people who clearly don't watch already (felt a bit sorry for the hostility towards the Siddiqui dad - clearly not meant to sound so strong, and it was so unexpected from that particular family). People find it hard enough to keep up with it already apparently, let alone dumping them five seasons in! I thought this was also the reason they never bothered covering Doctor Who: Series 8 before.
On the subject of Gogglebox only featuring English households, I think it's been brought up before that the reason for this is down to production constraints. It's already quite a challenge for the filming crews to get out to the locations that they do, with some footage being attained the Thursday night before broadcast. Having to reach Scotland, moreso Northern Ireland, and the majority of Wales would be an added difficulty. Note how they also lack anybody from the southwest of England as well - supporting the idea it's simply due to accessibility rather than any undue preference for English participants.
