I totally agree. Those poor horses. I saw one fall down onto its knees and another fall down and slide along the grass. It's time this cruelty was stopped. I would never bet on any horse in any race.

At least the good folk of DS can see this. The fact that barely any of the Goggleboxers commented on the brutality of it doesn't reflect very well on them at all.

When the jockeys fell off, they were going 'Oh poor them!!'. But I was thinking 'Poor horses!'. At least the jockeys have a free choice whether they enter into this dangerous race or not. Not so for the poor horses.

But that's ok, 'cos the Tappers won £78. *rolls eyes*

It`s not the racing that kills the horse it`s the authority who are happy making millions from a horse but shoot it when it breaks a leg, instead of saying thank you by fixing the horse

That's not how I perceived it, the son was taking the pee and the dad knew it and his meek "sorry" was him continuing it, they know each other's humour.

Tonight's episode was awful I was bored of it 12 minutes in. Last week was great.

In this household the one who used a mild profanity would have received red back legs- adults who act like children shalt be treated like children is my motto.

Asian fathers have a reputation for the administration of strict discipline and I was very surprised to see this. Maybe standards are falling in the Asian community too

It was terrible seeing the poor animals being whipped. There are even jockeys that use a small taser like device to give electric shocks to the horse in some races which is illegal and barbaric. Poor creatures why do they have to be shot if they break their leg?

I quite enjoyed this weeks program, I especially enjoyed watching and listening to everyone's reaction to the ventriloquist dog act on BGT. HOW on earth were so many taken in by this?

Exactly how I saw it too - it's obvious to anyone what a good bond they all have. No offense was intended and none certainly taken.

People find it hard enough to keep up with it already apparently, let alone dumping them five seasons in! I thought this was also the reason they never bothered covering Doctor Who: Series 8 before.”

They did Mad Men last week and I got the impression a lot of them didn't follow that show either.

When Leon called Simon Cowell a Twt, my immediate thought was that compared to Leon, Simom Cowell is a genius. I notice that Simon Cowell is the millionaire, not Leon. Leon is a real old bigot and I don't know how his wife puts up with him.

As for the Moffet girl saying that the so-called "talking"dog was better than Pudsey (I won't use her words as I am better mannered that that), I wondered where her brain was. Pudsey is doing things that he obviously enjoys doing and are things that a dog can be trained to do. The "talking" dog was just sitting there whilst his owner did all the rest via a mask. I noticed as well that the poor dog was shaking all the time and I felt sorry for it. I am surprised that the panel can't see the cruelty there.

I found it hard to watch to the end this week but I was interested to see what the fuss was about so I went back and looked for it. I saw that they cut off at the point the Dad said sorry. From their general banter I would imagine that they were soon laughing again.

Are you so sure? That's not how some others here saw it. I thought the son was very indignant (that the father could think GOT was like LOTR) and uncharacteristically serious about his point which made the father feel somewhat belittled. There was no twinkle in his eye or hint of playfulness when he eventually offered a meek "sorry".

Could we get a slow motion replay where you can pinpoint the moment his heart actually breaks?

Nope

If its self awareness you're after, the Gogglebox thread is probably not the best place to hang around.

Because a good recovery may not be possible, there may be continuing pain and the horse becomes lame. It is often more humane to put the horse down
It can't be compared to a human breaking a leg, and making a complete recovery.

That's the image that comes into my head every time I see Gregg Wallace on TV!

I thought the main reason was that the horse is a financial asset, and although it could be healed and live a peaceful life that would cost the owners money, it would never race and make money again, hence it gets binned off solely as a "business decision."

Well I was only half watching it at that point but it seems like a few others on here see it the same way I do and a few see it the same way you do.....❓

Indeed. Look at how they have been in all the other episodes. They would never purposefully be disrespectful to their father.

If you look closely it's almost like they're real human beings and not just remotely controlled mouthpieces.
