Ha...predictable reply and so wrong! People like me is NOT me OK? I was just concerned for Sid that's all (if you read my posts). Stop trying to demonise me please.
Wow it's ok for you to patronise me "rolling your eyes " because I don't understand the banter situation. Then it turns out that it's you who doesn't understand the banter and that in fact it was Sid and not I who originally used the wordand not only do you not feel the need to apologise you become the victim how does that work then?

So...who thinks Gogglebox peaked in the last series? I don't expect it to get another award now.

I do not want it to be more than that. I saw the dad recoil when his son got emotionally defensive re. the LOTR and GOT comparison. (Watch it on repeat, towards the end of the programme - speaks for itself; I rest my case!)

However, I understand the need to diminish the situation since people on twitter have had a go at Baasit, i.e. they also saw what transpired. (Incidentally, it is not just me who saw that Sid was taken aback) Let's move on now shall we?
What is LORT and GOT from a person with no IT knowledge

Targeted? What? I asked where I had demonised you, challenging you on an assertion you made about me is hardly targeting by any stretch of the imagination!
Unbelieveable, isn't it!?

Ha...I just had a wake up call of just how trivial and pathetic this all is.... We are commenting not directly on programmes but on viewers watching programmes and then squabbling over inaccurate perceptions of our observations....Jeez...

Actually he did say it was banter:

sid siddiqui ‏@goggleboxsid
Dear #Gogglebox fans please don't be too hard on @baasitsiddiqui at his defence of GOT it was just a banter I ate his korma chicken earlier
Ahh thanks for that Satan

I knew the family were mucking around and I must admit having come on this thread and read some posters going right over the top about it I was confused! But the the voice of reason from his Twitter account and I'm back to normal as I do like the Asian family big time,
Them along with the posh couple and the gay couple are my absolute favourites and Giles and Mary are refreshing viewing too as Sandra and Sandy have had their day IMO -they play up to the cameras far too much,
The Moffat girl needs to move her head and look more relaxed instead of trying to keep her head as still as possible so as not to mess up her extensions on her head

Edit still think it's got another series but need to put more variety in the programs they view

I've read them. Just because you want to move on and forget, doesn't mean that I want to.

You were wrong. You made a big thing out of nothing. You've now made out you're being targeted and are 'a victim'.

And now you get rude and personally abusive.

As I said a complete over-reaction.......and an inability to admit to being wrong.

Now I'm finished.

I take it Leon and June are labour supporters as they seem to hate everything conservative!!
Leon is a disgusting bigot who hates everyone right of centre. In fact. the old bastard hates everyone and treats his wife like shit. I don't know whether she likes being shushed all the time and has been browbeat to know her place.
It seems to me that they are lifelong Labour supporters and don't have the intelligence to change the political views that their parents instilled into them fifty years ago.

Leon and June are political Labour activist idiots who have been forming malleable childrens minds for years under the guise of teaching.

Is that fair? Or should teachers be impartial and let their students choose which party to support for themselves?

How do you know their teaching methods? They may have certain political views, do you know for sure that this became apparent in their respective classrooms?

How political can you get when teaching English, as June did?

Actually you can get very political teaching English if you chose the right texts or chose texts based on your political beliefs bit of George Orwell anyone?

You could tell at my school even at our young age (13-16) which teachers had a political agenda & bias no matter what they were teaching.
Looking & listening to Leon on Gogglebox do you honestly believe that he could give a balanced political perspective to students?

I think that he was probably manipulating young minds to vote the way he does which I suppose wouldn't be difficult in a Labour stronghold.

Bigot Bernicoff has poisoned young minds.

Really enjoyed this weeks episode, some great moments, Dom and Steph, the Moffats, Gilles and Mary all very funny, the tappers and sids great as always, I actually found Leon bearable this week and did laugh at his comment RE Simon Crowell.
The Sandys were annoying as always but all in all a very entertaining hour of tv

Sandie and Sandra are usually my favourites. The mouse. The "Rome - isn't that where Jesus was born?". The eating. The laughter. Girls just having fun - what's not to like. Compare and contrast with The Secret Life of the Pub!

I'm also fond of the lovely vicar and the family with the rotties with names like David and Michael (makes a change from Satan and Tyson).

You must be in the minority as I'm sure most people are sick of these 2 playing up to the cameras

Maybe it would be good if they were booted off the show as it might give them an excuse to get off the sofa and get some exercise

I agree with you. Sandie and Sandra drive me and my family mad. They are so stupid and yet think they are really funny and are encouraging each other to play up to the camera more and more. They have notices up and a cross to show that they are Christians and then ask if Jesus was born in Rome. Either they are completely stupid or are just thinking that they are being funny, and they are not.

I think it is more than time that they were dropped from Gogglebox.

The show needs an extra helping of intelligent participants. Watching so many of them come out with mind-blowingly ignorant comments is getting rather old now.

Well said.

Leon was one of my favourites in series 1 and some of 2 but I cannot stand him now. As for his perving that turns my stomach. He reminds me of the 2 old men sketch with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.

The sight of Leon lusting and thrusting each week is definitely an eyebrow raiser

After numerous posts on the same subject matter. Nobody's interested.

If you want to discuss it, start a thread in the appropriate place on the forum, then you can talk about it to your heart's content.
Exactly. The exact same thing happened over on the Worst TV Adverts thread. I then said pretty much the same thing as you did (politely suggesting that Worst Advert forum was the wrong place and they should move the discussion to either Politics or General Discussion section) as well as providing the statistic that 60% of adult brits bet on the Grand National race and that 80% of people fully support the running of the race.

I was then asked for proof of my stats (I think they thought I'd made them up) so I gave them a link directly to the actual report.

After that the whole thing kind of ended except for one final posting saying that I was trying to dictate what could be discussed. I then ended it by replying that all I did was suggest that a light hearted thread on bad advertising was not the place for a political/moral debate, whilst at the same time giving people statistical facts to counter-balance the anti horse racing mobs moral outrage.

I then wished both sides of the debate well and that I wouldn't be engaging anymore with the subject, leaving both sides with my logic that on this matter that everyones opinion is the right one, as this is a moral issue and if you find horse racing cruel then don't support it, but please don't try and heavy hand or shoehorn your morale opinion into some kind of 'better than thou' highground against those who disagree or don't support your personal moral outlook.
