As I have posted earlier the next time I'm in Liverpool now I will have a nice (well not that nice to look at) modern and NEW Galaxy S6 Edge on a 12 month contract so won't have to worry again

Would have loved to kept to a Apple iPhone but couldn't wait that long for the 6S to come out, will be gutted if I like it over the S6 Edge mind.
If someone is checking out your phone they are probably planning to nick it not judging you for it.

I am still using my iPhone 4 and whilst I was tempted to upgrade it to the 6+ I just could not think why I needed to. I can answer calls, send texts, get my emails, calendar, and everything else I need on line. I only pay £8.50 a month but only get small 3g allowance, however I have never gone over my allowance as I am always near wifi and if I am not then I wait till I am or just stay on a short time.

For this reason I decided my money would be better spent on an iPad Air which was a very good choice. I will update my phone when it dies, but till then I am very happy with it and couldn't care less what people think. I am proud to be using a retro phone.

After being out shopping with the boyfriend earlier today I'm not sure now, went and had a proper look at the Galaxy S6 edge and it just looks and feels wrong for some reason so it will either be getting cancelled before I get it or returned when I do.

Guess now that means I'm back to square one in that do I upgrade my iPhone 5s to the iPhone 6 Plus now and only have the latest and greatest phone for just over 5 months and end up hating it like I do with my 5s now in Sept OR hold off until the iPhone 6s Plus comes out in Sept and just limit how much I use my iPhone 5s in public.

There's always option C

Getting an actual life and realising it's a phone and has no barring on anything. Seriously. Not using a phone in public because it's not the latest model. You genuinely can't be serious. Surely Nobody is that idiotic and shallow. Get a ruddy grip.

I wasn't mainly referring to myself I was just saying how Apple iPhone users are in general, if you look at people in the street, on trains/buses etc. the only people that seem to be happy and show-off are iPhone 6/6+ owners. It's the same on Twitter and Instagram about 95% of selfies posted are by people with the 6/6+ I rarely see an iPhone 5s or earlier selfie now. Oh and trust me I've had sniggers and sly looks from people with the 6/6+ if I have needed to use my 5s in their presence on the train, mainly when I'm visiting family in Liverpool.

Me, personally I've gone past caring now, I've done 6 months hating and feeling ashamed of my iPhone 5s so what's another 6 months hey, maybe it's because I'm a 25 year old gay lad from Scotland that makes me feel the need to look the best I can. I can't wait to upgrade and NEVER get a 24 month contract again.
How can you tell if a selfie had been taken with an iPhone 5 or an iPhone 6? They'd look the bloody same!

Reading the latest post I was thinking the same, no one is really that idiotically shallow, it has to be a wind up.

Robbo, you are stretching the joke a little far, it's gone from slightly funny to now making you look like a 12 year old prat.

You can clearly tell if a selfie has been taken with the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6/6+ as they are completely different phones, if they are mirror shots then you can tell within a second, Grindr and Instagram users are by far the worst for it.

I'll use the Space Grey version (same as my 5s) as an example:

iPhone 5s vs iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

I just can't see whats so bad about me wanting to have the best things tbh.

You clearly have no idea about the pressure and need to have the latest fashion trends do you?

Being in two major cities (Edinburgh and Liverpool) as a 25 year old lad is effing hard if you dont have the latest and greatest things, when you're on the train and in Lime Street and Waverley stations plus walking around the city centres having the 6/6+ rammed in your face all the time does get annoying you know wwhen you're stuck with something from 2013.

Those people that say "no-one cares" seriously need a week in Liverpool or Edinburgh then tell me that they still feel the same way.

Seriously? You feel that your "social standing" is influenced by having the 'latest and greatest' £600 block? Perhaps you should spend some time on one of the local buses in my area, which aren't too far from either Liverpool or Manchester. With the Nokia Tune from 2003 ringing (I hear this almost every week) tell me that you need the latest gadget.

Perhaps if you read my post and the quote in that post again you might begin to understand, he is having a tantrum about "fashion trends" not just the iPhone. He could just as easily be throwing a paddy over the latest Frozen toy.

Sorry, I was just kidding.

Though there is this weird new form of pier pressure about the latest tech - it does exist, my mate used to take the pi** out of me all the time because I had a Samsung and he had an iPhone

There are some tech snobbish people out there who will look down on people for not having the latest - just like some people on here look down on you for having a different opinion.

That brings back memories of the late 80's early 90's when all the so called 'cool kids' would have the Nike trainers, Campari jackets, Kickers etc and then there's me with my Gola trainers and a tracksuit from Quality Seconds .

Did you miss the part where I said I lived in Liverpool? Have done since the day I was born.

I can confirm nobody cares what phone you have. I have an iPhone 5. Nobody cares. Just to be clear. I've spent every week since I've owned it in Liverpool. I still feel the same way. My entire family is from Liverpool. My 22 year old cousin has an iPhone 4. Does he feel pressured into buying the latest? No because he has friends and confidence. My 19 year old cousin has a nexus 4. Again does he care that it's not the nexus 6? No because once again he has a life. One of my cousins is 24. She got bored of her phones always breaking so now has a £10 Nokia. Does anyone care about this? No. So please don't tell me I need a week in Liverpool to understand. Or that someone of your age wouldn't walk around with anything less than the latest because I've proved your 100% wrong on both counts.

It's not about you wanting the best things. It's about you assuming other people care what things you have. They don't. People have their own lives to live and you're the only one placing such importance on a phone.

Your other thread over in advice ha several people your age confirming that they couldn't care less what phone they had too.

Stop assuming everyone is as shallow as you are. Very very few people are. If a phone is having this big of an impact on your confidence than you have serious issues no amount of expensive gadgets will fix.

I repeat. Get a ruddy grip.

So, if you think it's down to not having confidence, and not really about the phone, then saying things like being shallow is really going to help isn't it?

Lol I have an iPhone 6 because it's a functional solid device [With support for VoLTE/WiFi Calling] not because it's the latest lol. I do think it really is kind of that some people think they need have the latest else people might look down on them.

Honestly I know people who are like that over clothes who are females but never knew anyone was like that over phones.

The OP doesn't seem to realise it's not about the phone itself. I don't actually think it's confidence I think it's down to the OP's immense shallowness. I maybe worded it incorrectly.

But if it is confidence, what's the saying? The first step to fixing something is admitting you have a problem.

I wasn't having a go, but just think you're not going to help someone who might have confidence issues by telling them they're shallow etc... on a public forum. That's all I'm saying.

I do see your point but this isn't a counselling session. I'm not here to hold someone's hand and tell them they're right and it's okay. He is coming across as incredibly shallow. And I'm not the only one pointing it out.

Also saying ridiculous things like 'a week in Liverpool would change how you feel' to someone who lives in said city doesn't help.
