Smartphones seem to be getting bigger, but do you prefer the huge 5+ inches, the medium 4.7 inches or the smaller 4 inched displays.

Have you gone bigger and regretted it?

My smartphone is 4.7 inches and I don't want to go bigger, but when I upgrade my options for a flagship 4.7 inch phone are becoming limited now.

When I first ditched the iPhone for the Galaxy S4, I was worried it was going to be too big, but very quickly got used to it, and was perfect for me in the end, as it had a big screen, but crucially, little bezel.

I think 4.5-5" is best for me.

I'm now back to iPhone though and the only thing I dislike about is the screen real estate ratio.

Seriously though, iPhone 6 is perfect.
6+ when I had a look at it, was just a little too big.
I would have looked pleased to see everyone with that in my pocket!

Whilst we're on the subject, what is the current biggest smartphone?

I currently have the S5 and think it's reaching my size limit.

I think 5.5" the absolute maximum but the phone would have to have no bezel.

For me I don't like phones with big bezels as they make a phone bulky without any benefit.

Tried all inches, so far 5" is best , for eg samsung s4, it comes in middle of all smart phones.

I'd say between 4.7 and 5 inches is the perfect size. 5.5 inches is the absolute maximum that I think will ever be considered "normal".

4.7 inch phone fits my stubby-fingered hands best. But backed up with a 7 inch tablet which also covers the app gap on Windows Mobile.

Its not about screen size its about phone width and to a lesser extent height. About 70mm wide, give or take a couple of mm, and roughly 140mm tall seems ideal for most ( but not all). The LG G2 managed to pack in a 5.2 inch screen into those dimensions but the Sony Z1 was way bigger with only a 5 inch screen. Maximising screen to body ratio is what it is all about.

I can't believe someone called Finbaar (OK, not Finbarr) could come onto (sic) a thread so full of double entendre potential and post a sensible comment.

Um no its not. Far from it

Galaxy Mega 6.3 Is larger, and there are plenty of phones with larger 7" screens.

My Huawei Ascend Mate 7 and LG G Pro 2 are both 6". I can't use anything with a much smaller screen than that.

For me the Sony Xperia Z Compact series was a godsend. I wanted a high powered phone, but not one with a huge screen.

At the time i got my Z1 Compact, there was no real competition at this screen size, other than the woeful 'mini' versions of flagships.

Galaxy S4 or iphone 6 is big enough for me. Also there is the gender question. The women in my office don't want anything larger than S4 as female clothes designers only have small pockets. So when out without handbag a big phone is a problem.

The Sony Z3 Compact is about the best size for me and I don't want anything bigger (did have the HTC One M7 with a similar size screen but bigger body and didn't like it).

Yes, I was looking at this phone. Might go for it when I upgrade. What is battery life like?

I'm really struggling to find a phone like the HTC ONE M7 which to me is the perfect size.
