I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but James Corden would obviously be given The Late Show in this scenario, and I suspect Stephen Colbert would be dropped altogether with a new host taking over The Late Late Show.
It’s all rumours and speculation of course, but I bet the executives at CBS have at least discussed the possibility of this happening. But would CBS really put James Corden up against Jimmy Fallon?

I've heard him say in numerous interviews he misses the UK, he dislikes his children speaking with an American accent and all his friends and family are back home. Plus he wants to do more writing and acting and he can't do much tv/film acting if he has to film a chat show every night. Yes, he's being paid a fortune but i don't think money matters much to him.
It's crazy he's coming back to the UK end of June 2016 to record a new series of ALOTO for 2017!!! That's crazy. 3 weeks is nothing.”
I’d say it depends on how important it is to him that’s he’s a high profile celebrity, globally. It’s unlikely anything can match his current job in terms of profile (except maybe a promotion to The Late Show). Doing more acting and writing might be his preference, but is he willing to have a lower profile because of it? That’s his decision to make. And how he feels now might not be how he feels in 2020 when his contract expires. But for now he’s clearly happy, he wouldn’t have signed a contract extension if he wasn’t.
Yes he’s back in the UK next week, for 3 weeks. He’s recording A League of Their Own, I know because I have tickets to see him!

How much product placement is there in late night? Guillermo on Kimmel does ads and Fallon has the Mac on his desk but is this the first time a bit has been associated with corporate brands?”
I suspect this product placement is a clever deal by CBS to capitalise on the programmes YouTube viewers, not the traditional television viewers. Carpool Karaoke is watched by
a lot more people on YouTube than on television (more than 20 times the people in some cases), so if you can sell adverting based on those figures you’re winning. A
very clever business decision by CBS.

It’s a big deal, but I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely huge. Michelle Obama has taken part in a few comedy bits with Jimmy Fallon that have gone on to become viral successes. But it is impressive that James Corden’s influence is starting to match Fallon’s in attracting the biggest names in the world wanting to do something with them.
