There's a 1hr special tonight on Sky1 of Corden's Carpool Karaoke highlights at 10pm. I won't really be watching as i've seen most of it on YouTube but i wonder how many viewers it'll get on the channel.

This Wed his CK segment is with Michelle Obama.

That was good fun. The Adele and J-Lo carpool karaoke were funny. Episodes are available on the red button now.

So pleased for the earlier heads up. I'd given up thinking we'd see anything here. I love James' harmonies and his voice surprises a few too! Really enjoyed it and they squeezed a lot into an hour, car pool plus some highlights from the show, James divides people and he had a lot of doubters in the UK, but the US really took to him. Phenominal success.

That’s exactly what I posted in the post directly before yours!

The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special, which aired in the US a few months ago, also airs tonight on Sky One at 10pm.
As for how well it performed in the overnights, Broadcast report that it nearly doubled the average number of viewers for the timeslot so I’m sure Sky are happy about that. And it will undoubtedly be watched many more times on demand.
But essentially it was just promotion for the fact the ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ is now available via Sky On Demand. I found it last night in the ‘Catch Up’ and then ‘Sky TV’ menus. I’m surprised it wasn’t advertised on the main Sky+ homepage (maybe it will be later this week).

Can any Virgin customers confirm whether it’s available via Virgin or is it a Sky exclusive?

Watched the red button episode with Juliette Lewis and Zachary Quinto. It was pretty boring. His interviewing technique is very awkward and strained. He should stick to sketches and karaoke.

The programme’s strengths are definitely the sketches, not the interviews. But how good the interviews are really depend on each nights guests – how funny they are as individuals and together. Some nights are better than others.

But looking at this week’s line-ups I can sort of understand why Sky are reluctant to give this an actual slot on the Sky1 schedule, in primetime/late prime at least. Most British viewers won’t have heard of nearly all of these guests.
On the plus side he does have a new Carpool Karaoke with Michelle Obama tonight.

Mo: Zachary Quinto, Juliette Lewis, SWMRS
Tu 7/19: Julia Stiles, Zoe Saldana, Paul Feig, Lewis Del Mar
We 7/20: Aaron Sorkin, Cheryl Hines, Scott Speedman,
Th 7/21: Chris Pine, Imogen Poots

On an unrelated note – I don’t like how Sky are numbering the shows. Last night’s was numbered S1E01. Why can’t they use the actual season/episode numbers?

I don't think that's necessarily true. I've heard of ALL of those guests apart from the ones highlighted which i'm guessing are musical acts. The majority are all American actors. Most people would know who they are.

Really? Most people on these forums might know who most of these people are, but I'd say a typical member of the public is likely to have only heard of Juliette Lewis, Julia Stiles and maybe Chris Pine and Aaron Sorkin (without looking them up on Google - finding a photo of them is cheating!).

It was a bit odd watching it on my tv instead of the PC.
I might have to go back to watching on the PC as it is part of my routine before going to bed.

As for the interviewing, I don't think he's a bad interviewer but because it's a 40 minute show with a monologue, sketches. audience participation and between 2 and 4 guests on the couch it can be a bit disjointed as he jumps between the guests.

You have to suspend disbelief with these things. But I'm waiting for the guest who'll cut through the pretence and not invent some unlikely story about why James Corden is picking them up.

Why would they do that ?

It's a silly, fun segment that is proving to be wildly popular so why would they ask someone to appear who simply gets into the car and just treats it like some kind of press junket ?

I'm thinking that someone like Ricky Gervais would be cynical and matter of fact and not go along with the premise. But I agree that once you get guests who are only doing it halfheartedly to plug something (there was a bit of that when he had George Clooney and Julia Roberts) it won't feel as spontaneous or fun.

I think Gervais would be the exact opposite actually. His sense of humour would likely mean he'd be quite over the top about getting in to the premise of it.

Maybe it would depend on whether he was in David Brent mode. I think Steve Coogan in Alan Partridge mode would be brilliant.

Because I’m sad I’ve been monitoring when Sky have been making the episodes available... Tuesday’s was available by about 7pm, but last night’s wasn’t available until about 10pm. I know it takes a bit of time/effort to get the episodes broadcast ready, but I think it’s in Sky’s best interest to get the episodes available by early evening at least – given the highlights are already available on YouTube around lunchtime.
Assuming they take it from the East Coast broadcast (which is 5:30-6:30am UK time) they shouldn’t have an issue making it available by, say, 7pm each night if not earlier.

Just watched it. Quite brilliant. You can see the secret service car trailing them all the time as well

There were problems yesterday evening in the US when the Republican Convention overran by about 30 minutes ( Trump's running mate Mike Pence was speaking so they couldn't really cut him off) that caused delays from about 10pm onwards

Bill Maher's Realtime Convention Show had to be delayed and they started showing a re-run until Pence finished

Interesting, I didn’t know that. Although that’s no reason for the delay in Sky making The Late Late Show available – they still would have had the show by 8am UK time so why it didn’t appear until after 10pm I don’t know.

Did the Republican Convention overrun affect ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ which is broadcasting live this week? What time did that eventually air?

Very interesting, thanks for the news.

There were rumours last year that Sky were close to doing a deal for a weekly ‘best of’ version of the programme for Sky One, but clearly those plans were abandoned.
Making it available only via On Demand only is a very interesting, and pioneering, move for Sky. I can understand not wanting to give it a primetime slot every night due to the fact that a lot of the time the guests will be unknown/irrelevant to the average UK viewer, so putting it On Demand (allowing the viewer to only watch the bits they have an interest in) makes perfect sense. As does the ‘highlights’ option for SkyQ viewers.

My only concern/question is this – what viewers are they actually aiming this at? Unless you want to watch all of every show (which there can’t be much demand for) then you can already watch the bits you want to via YouTube. So who is going to watch it via On Demand? Or are they going to geo-block the clips on YouTube from now on (as they’ve started doing with Last Week Tonight with John Oliver)? In which case I think this announcement could actually damage the programmes popularity in the UK...
I will watch episodes in full! Watched the 2 sky have shown this week and gotta say it my new fave show. Ive seen the odd YouTube clips of carpool here and their but never much more but heard how successful it was so watched the full EPs sky have on demand and loving it 2 EPs in. I wanna watch all episodes in full. Shame you can't put series links on-demand content when the next one becomes available as I just know I'm gonna forget and miss an episode one day when really busy

I went to a recording of A League of Their Own last night, it was good to see James Corden in person – another US late night talk show host I can add to my list of having seen them live. I had second row seats too so had a great view. Naturally I wore my Late Late Show t-shirt.

Anyway, there’s a new article on The Guardian website about Sky picking up the show. It sort of sums up my view quite well.

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...te-show-uk-sky
Sorry don't agree with this article. Yes watching clips YouTube etc is the way forward, call me old-fashioned, but if theirs a chance to watch something on my laptop or my telly on the sofa the telly will win every time! Plus I don't agree with watching all the clips online is like you've watched an episode. Maybe I'm a want it all kinda guy but watching clips over the full transmission is not watching the show. That too me is watching clips of the show, if I mate asked me do you watch James cordon late night and I only watched a number of clips or segments online I would say 'i watched some clips online this morning' for example, not I watch that particular show. And I don't agree with why would any British person wanna sit through American guests they don't know its not about that on these type of shows its about the host and maybe somethung funny or does or says to the guest weather I know them or not. Plus I like too find out about different guests and who they are. Its like my dad who watches graham Norton every week regardless of whos on and I asked him one day ' thought you wouldn't wanna watch this dad as you don't t know them' he said well grahams funny and its a way to find out about all these celebrities he said. Surely my dad can't be only person who watches a talk show regardless of who is on it, even tho if you know some of the guests it does help .

That might be an option in the new update.

I skimmed a thread in the Sky forum that mentioned something similar.
