In short, I don’t. I’m just going by the information that’s been reported online from various new sources – so any part of it could be incorrect. But in short the following has been reported:

Coden signed an initial 3 year contract with CBS, for a reported £1.5 million a year, running until early 2018. He also received a £650,000 ‘relocation fee’ to move his family from London to LA.
Reports suggest his contract prevents him from working for any US network other than CBS, but allows him an agreed number of weeks a year to peruse/continue other projects that have been agreed in advance with CBS (such as A League of Their Own on Sky). His contract is for his work on ‘The Late Late Show’.
Within his first 6 months he signed a 2 year extension, again for £1.5 million a year, but now running until early 2020 – making his 5 year contract worth £7.5 million.
Reports have since suggested that due to his performance he’s received a pay increase, now making his 5 year contract worth £10 million.
I don't think any agent would agree to him not working for another network. Especially when they renegotiated his contract. Especially for that amount of money. It would have to be a lot more to retain exclusivity.

Maybe. I’m can’t argue anything I posted as fact, just that all the evidence we do have seems to suggest it’s correct.
I know Jimmy Fallon has an exclusive contract with NBC, but that is for considerably more than what James Corden is being paid by CBS.

Those numbers are very poor for a host on late night, let's not forget his agent takes a percentage and the overall numbers are pretty poor, he should sack his agent.

Let's assume the information I posted is correct or close to it (which admittedly we have no way of knowing for sure), James Corden is currently earning £2M/$3M a year for ‘The Late Late Show’. Compared to the late night host’s salaries of yesteryear (Leno, Letterman, Stewart) I’d agree is salary is ‘pretty poor’. But compared to the current ‘next generation’ of late night hosts I’d say it’s actually about on par for a relative unknown who has only had the job for 18 months.

Here’s how the current late night hosts rank in terms of annual salary, based on information available online:

Conan O’Brien - $12M a year (as of 2016)
Jimmy Fallon - $11M a year (as of 2016)
Jimmy Kimmel - $10M a year (as of 2016)
Chelsea Handler - $10M a year (as of 2016)
Stephen Colbert - $4.5M a year (as of 2016)
Seth Myers - $3M a year (as of 2014)
James Corden - $3M a year (as of 2016)
John Oliver - $2M a year (as of 2016 – and he hosts a weekly show, not daily)
Trevor Noah - unknown

For info: Before retiring Jon Stewart was earning $30M a year, David Letterman at his peak was earning $40M a year, and Jay Leno at his peak was earning $30M a year (this was down to $15M a year by his final year due to budget cuts).

And here’s how they rank in terms of overall wealth:

Conan O'Brien: $85 million
Stephen Colbert: $45 million
Jimmy Kimmel: $35 million
Chelsea Handler: $35 million
Craig Ferguson: $30 million
Jimmy Fallon: $25 million
Carson Daly: $15 million
Seth Meyers: $10 million
James Corden: $10 million
Chris Hardwick: $10 million

Another ‘Late Late Show with James Corden’ spin off is on the way... TBS have commissioned a 16 episode run of ‘Drop the Mic’.
Corden will act as one of the programmes executive produces but, like recently announced Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke, won’t act as host.

https://www.theguardian.com/culture/...he-mic-tv-show

I’m not sure what I think about this. I really enjoy the ‘Drop the Mic’ segments on the Late Late Show (maybe more than Carpool Karaoke), but is there a risk that with these spin offs they are going to reduce the popularity the Late Late Show itself – you know, like too much of a good thing?

I don't know, for someone who was largely unknown on US TV I think he'd take it as a stepping stone, do well and CBS would pay a lot more next contract or contract extension

Don't know why but Sky don't have Monday nights Late Late Show to download. Instead they have an old repeat as the "new" episode.

The actual Monday Show that aired in the US had some Olympic Clips - perhaps a rights issue?

This Saturday, the first sighting of James Corden on French television. Pay channel MCM is showing the first 5 episodes of season 3 in preparation for the nightly transmission of the day before's episode (original version with subtitles) as they've been doing this past year with Jimmy Fallon. (Disclaimer: I live in France)

Although the MCM schedule still shows Fallon every night, there's a twitter post with Fallon on Canal Plus's new schedule from September in the 6:15PM TBBT/Simpsons slot.

Interesting... so Fallon is moving from MCM to Canal Plus, and Corden is effectively taking its place on MCM?

I watched Fallon on MCM whilst in France last year (it was one of a few things in English)... I’m guessing a move from MCM to Canal Plus is considered a promotion for Fallon?

Yup. Definitely a promotion for Fallon on Canal Plus at 6:15PM just before 'Le Grand Journal' bumping back TBBT to 5:40PM. More proof that Fallon is a more attractive proposition than Leno, Corden's similar appeal must have lead to him being chosen over Colbert on MCM even though his show doesn't attract A List guests. (on a regular basis)

My, somewhat sarcastic, reply was really around the fact the post gave no reasoning at all, just that it was an ‘utter pile of crap’.
I don’t mind people not liking the same things as me, but it’s a much more interesting conversation if they can say why they don’t like something.

I like ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’, for me it’s an enjoyable watch. However I do still feel all Corden has really done is taken all the successful ideas from other late night talk shows, put his own spin on them, and put them all in one show. None of it is truly original. Having said that, it’s an enjoyable watch and I enjoy watching it.

I will admit one thing though – I too miss The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. It was totally different to everything else in the genre. But maybe it had run its course. I still get my Craig Ferguson fix with ‘Join or Die’ and ‘Celebrity Name Game’, but neither give him the freedom he had with the talk show.

Good episode with Cher. She's good fun because she doesn't mind taking the mickey out of herself.

According to the National Enquirer she's been at death's door for years.💀

CBS has announced that James Corden will host next year’s Grammys, which also air on the network.
He’ll replace LL Cool J, who has hosted the awards for the previous 5 years.

The best part of the announcement was the drummer's sarcastic drumbeat and Reggie Watt's doing his Morgan Freeman impression. (a nod to Geoff?) I'm taking it that those bits were unplanned and were better for it.

Only a short clip of Madonna's carpool karaoke has been posted but already the ageist comments have started, predictably with Piers Morgan. She's in her fifties but then so are Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp and no one's telling them off for going shirtless so it's a mystery why she can't shake her booty without snide 'grandmother' coments

You have to remember Piers Morgan hates Madonna (I can’t even remember why) and has famously banned her for life from appearing on any show he hosts. So whatever he says on the subject is going to be a little bias...

Personally I also think the way she acts/dresses is a little inappropriate for someone her age, but she’s not hurting anyone and is quite entitled to do as she wants. I also don’t think much of the music she’s produced in the past 20 years, but I’ll give her credit for continuously re-inventing herself and staying success for so long. Not many artists can claim to achieved that.

Anyway, the full Carpool airs on tonight’s show in the US (tomorrow night in the UK).
